I'm in a relationship with someone, but if I were single, I would certainly date someone who uses a wheelchair if I found him to be a nice and attractive person.

Why shouldn't I???

A man in a wheelchair can be as a man who doesn't use a wheelchair - he simply isn't able to walk, that's nothing that would prevent me from loving someone!!!

Addition after having read the answer of the person who said that she wasn't a nurse and wouldn't help someone bathing etc: *Everyone*, even someone who isn't handicapped *now* can become ill or have an accident. Even you!!!

Would you leave your husband if he had an accident and needed help with some of his everyday-hygien - because "you are not a nurse"???

That's *pretty* poor, sorry!!!

Would you like that - your husband leaving you just because you weren't able to take a bath without his help???

If I love someone, I certainly would help him with everything he needs help with. Even if I have to change his diapers!!!

Because love ist *love* and I would do this out of love. If I love someone, it doesn't matter if I have to help him. I love him and love is not selfish enough to be switched off simply by the fact that you have to assist him with some things.

Otherwise, it is no love.

Yes, as long as he had a nice personality and didn't use his disability to his advantage. ( go see that documentary that came out last year and followed about 26 men in wheelchairs and covered everything between work, sports, and relationships that they have... some of them were sneaky) lol.
furthermore for all the shallow ppl that say no, just imagine if you marry a man and he gets put in a wheelchair, what you gonna do then, run?

Why not? If you're attracted to him and you have things in common, who cares if he's in a wheelchair? Physical attraction is superficial, it wears off quickly. I first met my husband when I was 16 and thought he was the hottest guy around. Unfortunately, he thought I was a geek and we didn't start dating until I was 25 - though we were friends for all those years. I would have dated him back then for his looks but I fell in love with him for his personality - the way he makes me laugh, the way he makes everyone feel like they are important and worth listening to. I love everything about him! Oh, and I still think he's the hottest guy around (even with the belly and balding head) and we've been together for 18 years!

Yes i would. I am not dating the fact that he is in the wheelchair i am dating the man that is in the wheelchair. If that is your only obstacle imagine his. Learn to overcome adversity like he has and put your prejudice to the side.

That would depend on the female.. Does she have any inhibitions about dating a man in a wheelchair? IF I (personally me) was a female, I would not

Depends on how honest the man is if he cant believe that theres no point in life because he's in a wheelchair no i wouldnt. but if he's a good guy with tons of love and a big heart totally. there may be things that become speed bumps on the way (ramps to house etc.) you can get over them.

:)

I think that I would be open to the possibility same as any other man. But it would depend on how I felt after the relationship got going. I think it would be a life changing decision on whether to continue to move forward. A person in a wheel chair may have special needs that would have to be met. I would have to ask myself if that is something I would want to incorporate into my own life long term.

Good looks mean so little after a very short time. that would be the last criteria. A wheelchair would not be a deal breaker, though, a great guy is a great guy, regardless of his mode of transport.

I would. I don't think the wheelchair is the part that makes the difference!
