I've been dating my boyfriend for about 2 months now and he is sister is getting married in a couple weeks. I just got invited to the wedding so now I am in hurry to buy a gift. I am also a poor college student, have only met his sister once, and the wedding is going to be a small affair. So with that background, I was wondering what price range would be appropriate and what kind of gift should I get? Thanks!

You have only been dating this guy for 2 months so a lot is not expected of you, especially that you are the guest of someone else. I would say between $25 and $50 for her gift would be nice. It's enough to say I'm not cheap but it's not so much that it looks like you are trying to impress. That's something that I would be happy with.

As for what to get her, that's simple. Find out where she is registered and that will tell you exactly what she wants.

Picture Frames(They will need some for pics of the wedding) or a Towel Set because it comes as a set and they are one now. These are Good!!! I go to alot of weddings and if not a card with $$$$.Every wedding gets them and the couples appreciate every penny after spending all that money and to go towards the honeymoon.

Something simple is all you need. At this point in your relationship and since you've only met her once, the gift is more of a nice gesture. A nice frame for their wedding photo or something different, like creative looking salt-and-pepper shakers would be fine. Also, I always suggest this book. I've given it a few times and the couple always loves it. It's simple, but different, and only costs you about $12. Good luck!

a set of 3 books would make a perfect gift:

1) 5 love languages - by dr. gary chapman
2) Personality Plus by florence littauer
3) Rich dad poor dad - by robert kiyosaki

The first 2 are extremely superb in understanding your partner's personality and hence creating better understanding, and the third one is an excellent insight on financial planning and hence improving the quality of life.

If you have less money, give 5 love languages, thats the best ever!

I prefer books as gifts, they cost reasonable and add lot of value to people's lives.

Price range doesn't matter. Go find a nice picture frame, you can never have too many of them, and being that they are getting married I bet she would love to showcase all of their wedding pictures.

Around $20-30 would be fine. You give according to your own means, not the means of the recipient or the splendor of the occasion. Have fun!
