Scrub with a mild detergent or carpet cleaner (Stardrops is a great all purpose cheap and fairly eco friendly cleaner for example), then when its dry sprinkle baking powder onto teh area lavishly, leave it overnight then hoover up. This takes up any lingering odour and is also a good way to freshen the whole carpeyt, sort of cheap dry cleaning. Its also a mild antibacterial so keeps the spot sweet

There is a new product on the market called Urine Gone. It comes in a spray bottle and it has a black light. Cost is about $20
The black light makes the urine stain glow so you can see how big it actually is (or how big you made it while scrubbing on it) then you spray the solution on the spot and watch it disappear before your eyes.
It even removes the smell...Hope that was helpful.

Unless you catch it while it's still wet, it simply can't be done. Even then, it's difficult. The enzymatic cleaners don't work. Nothing works. If you live in a nice, dry climate you might be able to get ride of the odor enough that people don't smell it, but cats will smell it and return to the same place. Heat and humidity make the smell return even if it seems like it has gone away.

What has worked to counteract the smell for me is white vinegar and water. It seems to stop the smell. I have had cats for most of my life and this seems to work. Also, use a blacklight to see where the urine is so you are sure you are treating all of the spots.

take him outside and teach him to go outside when ever he needs to do that kind of stuff, when your teaching him if he does things right give him a treat like sardine cats love fish and remember its not going to be easy is gona take atleast 1 to 2 weeks to get him to pee outside but its gona be worth it for your carpets!

Let your cat always pee on it, so the whole thing's yellow.
That way, people will just assume it's a yellow carpet! :)
