I watched the video and all it did was confirm my beliefs that the Bible is fact.
The Da Vinci code is a fictional account that is interspersed with threads of truth in an attempt to give it credibility.

I have to agree with helix, but the fact that you got this from a televangelist standpoint leans heavily to politics. They are one of the biggest and most influential groups around.
The fact that something like the davinci code can cause such a stir, is in itself a testimony to the fact that mankind is still looking for answers. It's easy for people to lean toward something else because the Bible is so old and written in a place that seems to be constantly in a state of upheaval. This makes us think.... wow, do I really want my salvation based on the writings from people with a mindset that includes holy wars? I believe Jesus existed and was doing his best to show people how to live, but as far as Resurrection that is totally left to faith and making sure that these peoples stories were accurate and not embellished on.
So to answer you're question, can we really ever answer this question?

He claims that the bible is based on eyewitness testimony. All serious scholars find that the earliest of the gospels were written about 70 years after jesus died.

He mentions Bruce Metzger as an expert on the NT, check out this link:
http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/evangelicalunbelievers.htm
Search for Metzger in there

He compares Lincoln to Jesus:
He keeps saying that the gospel of Judas would be like Lincoln telling Boothe to kill him. How does this work? jesus KNEW he was going to die, yet didn't run from that fact. He embraced it (with some minor backsliding) so if he refuses to flee knowing that he is about to be killed, why is it so hard to beleive that he would even tell his follower to point him out? I'm not saying he did, but to equate it to Lincoln is ludicrous. If Lincoln had know about Boothe, he would have stayed home!!! Jesus' WHOLE PURPOSE was to die that day.

He claims that the gnostics have a "wierd kind of belief in 2 gods"? So does this make Hindus the epitome of 'wierdness' with their multiple gods? Screw him and the prejudices he rode in on.

As for his hero Irinaeus:
Irinaeus thought that there should be 4 gospels b/c there were 4 winds (directions). Is this sounds biblical decision making? Are you serious?
He was also thought that jesus was teaching into his 40's, not true.

So those are just s few points to illiustrate that I find your video link laughable

I clicked on for the video, but it takes too long for it to show anything. A book my sister is reading is shown. I saw it at bookstores. I took Philosophy and Bible in college, so I need not read biased books to answer the question. My Bible class pointed out errors and contradictions in the Bible. So does a book Billy Graham sent me. It tries to explain them but is not successful. Only ignorant people can believe the Bible is literally true. I am not ignorant whether I watch a video or not.

The guy is a sensationalist, doing exactly what Dan Brown did. At least Dan Brown admits his book is fiction.

The Bible is a dubious document. The debate has nothing to do with when it was written -- it has to do with when it was compiled and under what circumstances. There was no "Bible" that mysteriously assembled itself in the wake of Jesus Christ. In fact, it did not begin to come into being as we know it today until the 4th Century under Emperor Constantine, when politicians VOTED ON IT at the First Council of Nicaea.

Actually if you throw out the metaphysical aspects and use it as a source for archaeological research then it is pretty useful. The rest are the attempts of people of the time to explain natural phenomena with the knowledge available to them, adding on to the mythologies passed down to them. I'm sure some of the people existed as well - just as people though.

Watched the video and only confirms my thoughts...the Bible was written by man and therefore has got to be considered as mostly fiction. Not slamming Christianity because I feel this way about the Koran & Jewish Torah as well. Taking any religious book as "literal" or the "only way" is what leads to hatred and killing. Hopefully someday we'll all realize this.........

Anyone can line up as many scholars with open minds that would say the opposite. I heard the video and was not impressed. The Bible (Corinthians i.e.) was a compilation of those that lived after Jesus. That particular Paul was only interested in religious formation with order and control in Greece.

Consider...if you believe...take what it says and challenge it to the utmost. If you don't...take it and say why.

You have been indoctrinated into taking these stories literally as firm beliefs. You're a Christian because your family, maybe your husband, are Christians.

Please think about things for yourself.
