I made the stupid mistake of quitting a very good job in the heat of anger. I have made every attempt to get my bosses to change their minds, but its a done deal. How do I get past beating myself over this and move forward with my life?

This might be in your FAVOR! No matter how long you were there working sounds like something was going on. MOVE ON! and don't look back! Put you RESUME out on the internet your on the computer anyway! WISH YOU MUCH LUCK!

You've already done the first step--realize you made a mistake. Research other similar companies and apply. You might find an even better job than before. Everyone makes mistake, esp in a moment of anger. Remember all the positive things you did in your last job and put those things in your resume. This could serve as a kind of therapy for you as well. Instead of beating yourself up, think "What would my best friend say to me right now?" Good luck.

The next step is to go find another job. You will probably get quite a few "forget about it and move on replies" to this question, but I suggest the other route. There is no reason to beat yourself up over it, but remember and learn from the mistake that you made. When you are in a situation like that again, remember how you handled it the last time and decide what you could do differently.

Simply slap the back of your hand and tell yourself that you will no longer react to situations without thinking about them first. Stop asking for your job back -- unless you are relishing the attention you are getting about it. Get on the internet to jobs.com, look in your local newspapers, speak with employment agencies and find yourself a new position. If you have to explain to a interviewer why you left your previous job, explain it truthfully by saying you made a rash decision in a moment of anger but that you have put it behind you and want to move forward with a better attitude towards your job. The more you are honest with yourself, the quicker yyou will get past beating yourself up about this. You made a mistake. It's over. Move on. Keep repeating those words. C'mon, keep repeating those words ..........

You have to move on. Living in the past rather than the present will not pay your bills. Focus on what you did for the company that you quit, and not the heat of the moment anger. In your next job don't put so much of yourself into it that you would be tempted to blow up again. Good luck.

No point beating yourself up over it. It achieves nothing other than stress. Mistakes are good for learning life's lessons so you know better from now on. Accept it and move on. Never make important decisions in a fit of anger. Good luck.

I have done the same stupid thing but you know what at this point you have to chalk it up as a lost at least apologize and find another job. Learn from this and control your anger it doesn't give good results when you speak out of anger.

You should have tried what George did on Seinfeld, just go back to work the next day anyway (although, this didn't turn out too well for him in the end). Larry David (the co-creator/co-writer of Seinfeld) tried going back to work the next day when he quit and realized that he made a mistake. This was while he was writing for Saturday Night Live (it worked for him).

Since it's a done deal, it's time to move on. Hopefully you've learned something from this experience. You have to control your temper, think before you react to situations, and if you're still having a problem with that, you should seek counseling to learn how. I wish you the best of luck.

We ALL make serious mistakes in the heat of the moment
but use them to learn a lesson .
You should NEVER get in that position again.
As my ex MD used to say --" only a bloody fool makes the same mistake twice"
