Man, don't give up like that. You are OBVIOUSLY intelligent and take a lot of pride in what you do in life. If you do drop out, go get your GED or if you are in college use the clep exams and self study. Organized education sometime isn't perfect for everyone. You might be that one person who just isn't feelin' it and getting what you need from our educational system. Don't blame yourself. The system does NOT work for everyone. My dad dropped out in the 8th grade. He is a genius, but did lousy in school because he was bored and had a hard time paying attention. School isn't everything and definitely not worth taking your life over. If you want to get a better job it is important to have at least a GED. Truth, my dad just lied and said he graduated. I don't suggest it, but that's what he did to get a job and no one questioned him because he was so smart. Good luck and email me if you just want to talk or vent. Please don't give up on yourself...if you quit cool...if you don't...cool too, but don't let it get to the point where you want to end it all.

Don't give up. It is hard to think that a younger sibling will graduate ahead of you and you are obviously very stressed about it. If you can't talk to your parents, try a consular at school. There are also private tutoring help, like Huntington Learning Centers. They are very good at pinpointing a learning problem and helping. If you are stuck on just one subject, see if a friend can coach you.
Keep trying and good luck.

High school is mostly "paying your dues" so to speak. My daughter has basically failed twice, in spite of being very intelligent, mostly because she has trouble understanding it's just a dog and pony show she has to get through. She did not have to repeat any grade due to some programs out there for intelligent kids with behavioral oddities. I'm sure there is some program in your community, based on your age, that will give you resolution. High school is very short, the rest of your life is a very long time. It's not worth all that turmoil. Just call your school board and see what's in your area.

My brother had an accident where it renders him not being able to walk for two years, now he is limping. While he was in the hospital he missed two years worth of school and he was so happy to go back to school because he made new friends. Even though he was two years behind, he continued on to finished school and he graduated with honors.
Now that was two years ago, he is now 22 and have a wife and two kids.

If you drop out, at least get your GED. I dropped out of HIGH SCHOOL in December of 1997. Went to a local college in January of 1998, took the 5 classes that I needed to, and got my GED in four months.
I was in 3 different High Schools though which messed up my credits to graduate. I wouldn't have graduated until 1998 because of it all. I didn't want that, so, my only option was to get my GED.
Hope everything works out for you!!!

On average people with a degree make 2-10 times what non-degreed peopke make. If you're so close to graduating, it's worth it to hire a tutor. A year behind is better than no degree at all. You need to drop your false modesty and feeling sorry for yourself- pronto!Do whatever it takes to stick with it. If you can't get help, or hire help, transfer to another School.

Albert Einstein failed!
High school is all about doing tricks for teachers It has nothing to do with how smart you are, how successful you will be, or life's happiness. You need the diploma but can get it a number of other ways- check with a local tech school counselor.
Most importantly remember that you are on earth cause we need you! You have something great to give, something someone is counting on. Please share it with us.

hun, i graduated school being 9 months pregnant. it doesnt matter what you have done in the past or what will happen in the future, your education is your door to your future and if you dont finish school, then it ends opportunities for you. consider this, i live in tennessee and mcdolands wont even hire a drop out! you have to show your highschool diploma or show proof your still in school. now isnt that sad? you cant even flip burgers for a living without a diploma.

Its not so bad, keep your head up. I messed around in high school and didn't get to graduate with my class. Its not the end of the world, trust me. Stick with it because when you get into the real world, having a G.E.D. or no diploma at all will put you at a serious disadvantage.
