Atheism is to not believe in any kind of god. The word atheism comes from the Greek words that mean "without god".
There are usually said to be two kinds of atheism. These are weak atheism and strong atheism. Weak atheism is the belief that there is no reason for a god to exist. Someone who is a weak atheist does not believe in any god he knows about. He does not expect to believe in any god he hears about. Weak atheists are also open to the idea that there is some driving force that keeps the universe in motion but that force is not a divine being.
Strong atheism is the belief that there can be no such thing as a god. Some use arguments that it would not be possible for there ever to be a god. For example, some say that it is not possible for any being to know everything.
Atheism does not have any one set of moral ideas. Because of this, many people argue that atheists do not have morals. This is often not true. Instead, atheists choose their set of morals without getting them from a religion. Also, many atheists have beliefs such as secular humanism that do have a moral code.
In many places, it is a crime to be an atheist. In Europe during the Middle Ages, atheists could be killed by burning. Many countries still have laws against atheism.
However, atheism is becoming more common in countries without a state religion. In some countries such as Britain, Canada and the United States there are laws that protect atheists' rights to not have a religion. This means that atheists have the same rights under the law as everyone else.

Theists are people who have belief in a God or believe in several Gods but atheists are people who do not share the theistic belief in God or Gods.
Atheism is not a belief system like a religion.
Many theists are not very intelligent or very well educated like stullerl below and he can only think of abusive things to say about atheists because he is not very literate.

The word atheist means that a person denies the existence of GOD or any other gods that created the universe. They claim no religion and don't believe in a heaven or a hell.
