I'm going to a family reunion in a few weeks, and part of the schedule is a family talent show. I'd really like to participate, but I can't think of anything that I'm that good at. I have an OK-ish singing voice on my best day, I can't dance, I'm not the comedic type, and my acting skills are non-existent. (And if you're wondering why I want to participate- I don't want to be the person sitting down and not participating in anything.)

Well, I'll go out on a limb with a few ideas I was saving for our next talent segment at a family reunion:

Make up song sheets and have a sing-a-long for the song, "We are Family." Have them help you. Everyone likes a singalong.

Last time, my immediate family wrote a giant poem and we all took turns reading it.

Make up your own lines for a song a la Weird Al Yankovic.

Good for you for not being a stick in the mud and trying to have fun!!!!!!!!

Talk a relative into going on "stage" with you with a prepared comedy routine about the family in which you are the "straight" part of the act. Off classic TV, think Louise Jefferson, Howard Cunningham, Ward Cleaver, Ethel Mertz, Jill Taylor, and just about any character Bob Newhart played.

How about reading a jules pfeiffer comic monologue, some were turned into a play of short vingettes, so there's probably a recording you could listen to in order to get the right cadence.
you could do the same with a popular poem, if you want something more serious.

Read a poem or a passage from a book, or even right one for yourself if you aren't the best writter try looking in chicken soup for the teenage soul books, if you have an okish singing voice try doing something like "Danny Boy" its really hard to mess up that one or "Amazing Grace" and finally look up some skits from Blue Collar or Who's line is it anyways they have some good stuff!

Good luck and best wishes sounds like your going to have a BLAST!!!

Good for you!

Hmmm...come up with something original and won't cramp everyone's style. Like say, use pails, bottles to create street music and choose a song to follow it through. Or try balloon tricks. Or a puppet show.

Just enjoy the time you'll be spending with your family. Have fun and get ready to laugh:)
