That is just it.......
Most of the "church going christian" that I know feel it is their place to judge everyone else. You cannot get them to understand that God is the only one who can judge us.
I feel tha you can believe in God, be a good person, and lead a christian life without going to a big building full of hypocrites every Sunday.

I believe that spirituality comes from within and church can be a tool for that, but not a requirement. My boyfriend keeps insisting we find a church once we're married and have kids, but I don't see the point. I can't find any that accept my beliefs are different (perhaps a little on the strange side too).
A lot of churches teach church is a requirement for salvation. I remember that from Catholic school. It's like God keeps an attendance chart with stars and stickers. Knowing and loving God has nothing to do with this.

Well, I'm a Christian and I don't go to church. But I KNOW I'm not going to hell. Church is more then just a building, it's a body of believers. Church is supposed to be for fellowship and learning. Unfortunately, there are some churches that aren't. It's too bad church has to be this way because fellowship and learning would be nice. But we can have just as much of that on yahoo answers!

Most Christians that believe this do not fully understand the bible or Christianity. God, like all things wants to be loved just as we do. In the bible it states that where 2 or more are gathered together in his name then this is a Church, Not an actual building. I believe that God wishes us to band together and praise him. Many people only take the parts they like out of the Bible and use them to their opinion. If you can love God and sometimes share this feeling with others then you are in Church.

Salvation is about accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior! How you live your life helps you keep that Salvation that Christ won for all of us. Going to church doesn't save you. Although, it is a good idea to go and spend time with God and fellowship with other Christians. Right now, I don't go to church because my health is bad. God understands whatever we're going through and loves us no matter what. Your relationship with God through Christ is the most important thing. Better to have that and not go to church than go to church and not have that relationship.

Of course God would judge only on how you lived. Though I'm not sure that it's true that MOST Christians believe you would go to hell, but I can see that you must know some like that.

Attending church is for spiritual growth. God instructs every Christian to grow in The Word. The average person can not grow without fellowship.
Your not going to hell for anything, other than not being saved. I hope you understand this. You believe what you like.
Good Question.

Your salvation doesn't depend on being able to attend church but at the same time If you have opportunities to go to a church and you just don't want to associate with any other Christians you have a problem. You may want to pray and ask God to help you find some good christian friends to worship with.

lol...have you ever heard the saying "going to church makes you a good person like standing in your garage makes you a car"? This is so true. If I do ever stand before god and he says well you were a good person and all but you didn't go worship me in church enough so you will spend eternity in hell, I would have to say I made the right decision in not worshiping. That is not a god I would want to worship.

Let anyone believe the way they like. Know your Creator and do His will. The urge to know Him is the first step of spirituality, not going to Church. Don't try to take undue advantage of God's forgiveness. Sure, His judgment is on the basis of how you lived. But the scale of life is His will and not your will.
