Could be several different reasons.
First get her vet checked.
She might have allergies, a simple change of food can fix that (Solid Gold Millennium works great for allergies).
She could just use a little more oil in her diet.
I don't feed my dogs "people" food, but I will let them lick out the tuna fish can because that little bit of oil (yes the water packed tuna does have oil in it) helps out quiet a bit.
What ever it is I doubt that she will die from it, but as always - rule out serious health problems first with your vet.
Good luck!

Could be an allergic reaction. My Lab did that and it turned out to be an allergy to the soap they used when I had her groomed. The Vet gave us an antibiotic because of the threat of infection from all the scratching and an antihistamine shot which stopped the scratching right away.

Don't worry....your dog is NOT dying. It simply appears to have allergies. I had a dog who suffered severe allergies at this time of the year. We took her to the vet, and she was put on benadryl at first. Unfortuately, the benadryl didn't do the trick, so she was put on a small dose of prednisone....but only for a short period of time (since the prednisone is not good for them). Believe it or not, one pill did the trick. See a vet! But stop worrying...your dog is not dying!!!

Maybe just some dry skin (dogs get dry skin just like people). Take her to a vet and have her checked. A vitamin E capsule in her food won't hurt her if it's just a little dry skin.

Could be environmental or food allergies, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or fur mites (mange). Take her to a vet ASAP! She sounds really uncomfortable!
