I have had mono the past few weeks, as of Tuesday, all of the symptoms, and the white spots have been gone, I am wondering whether my doctor is correct in saying that once all the white spots are gone, you are no longer contageous, or whether that is not true. The only reason I ask is becasue either today or tomorrow is my last day with my girlfriend before I go off to college so I would you know love a goodbye kiss before I dont see her at all until thanksgiving, do you think this will pose a threat to her?

Probably not. Isolated cases of mono not in an epidemic are not very infectious anyway.

With viral infections, the most contagious period is early in the infection when the virus is replicating and spreading - sometimes before you even know you are sick. As the disease progresses, your immune system kicks in and develops an arsenal to fight the infection - with antibodies and white blood cells. At the end of the infection the virus has been destroyed. However, some viral infections can result in the carrier state.
I think that with mono there may be a slight risk, but I think that in this case the risk is worth the taking!

I've had mono and boy would I be mad if my boyfriend gave it to me. I wouldn't take the chance. Just think how tired and miserable you have felt. You wouldn't want your girlfriend to feel that way, as much as you'd like that kiss.
