Airlines within the US suck and always will (United, US Airways and Delta are the worst). Overseas flights tend to be a little better and I've noticed some inprovements over the years.

Some of the airlines are getting worse, like United Airlines because they have more delays and more connections. Getting better is Southwest, with more cities and more low prices and nonstop flights.

Getting worse. Some airlines have even thought about charging for pillows and blankets.

I don't know if it's necessarily getting worse. Let's just say, they're trying to cut costs any way they can, probably. Think of the flights that used to offer full meals, no charge. Now they're charging $5 for a box of snacks on some carriers. I think they're just penny-pinching; whether or not that's actually "getting worse" depends on passenger opinions.

On international flights, competition is high so the service is maintained at a high level. Probably on domestic flights that services may not be up to standard.
