Beagles get along with just about anything, but try to avoid another hound dog(unless you don't let your dogs run around free)...sometimes they'll get on the scent of something and be VERY naughty. (Kill small animals, get VERY dirty, etc.) I'd suggest a dog that's either the same size or larger, believe it or not. One it can romp around with, but can also be the decider of when it's time to potty or stop playing. Make sure you get a very friendly breed, so that it will still be getting along well with the beagle once the beagle is getting older. It's important to think ahead about things like that.

Try the animal planet dog breed selector. It's VERY helpful, and helped me find the perfect dog for me a few months ago, and I just got my little maltese puppy the other day!!!

I have a beagle and a lab. They are great together and help tire each other out. I also put my beagle on a trolly so she has more room to run. We have a fenced in back yard but she still gets out. She has broke 3 trollies already that were steel. They are definately a bundle of energy. My brother in law has a beagle and no other dog. She is wonderful. She was w/ a lab but didn't behave very well. She is much better by herself.

Forget the dog. Try a cute little yellow bird.

Anything that is laid back and friendly...Another Hunting dog, or a setter, Retiever, Mutt, Just look for a nice tempered dog and put your dog with it before you adopt it or buy it...
