It depends on your likes and dislikes. Since you don't have much of a say. Pick the place of your dreams. I wanted Europe and I got Germany.

Some great bases I have been to are,
Hunter Army Air Field, GA, The area is great.
Ft. Carson, Colorado, close to New Mexico, Las Vegas, Cali, Utah, lots of skiing, mountain climbing.
HQ, 5th Corps, Heidelberg Germany, just a lovely place to live.

You can also pick a base close to things you would like to visit during your free time. I heard the bases in Washington State, Virginia and South Carolina were also nice.

Fort Leonard Wood, MO. is really boring. No mall for hrs. There is a walmart but there's always a walmart.lol! The surrounding towns are really poor and rundown. 2 hrs north is St. Louis and 2 hrs south is Branson. We're about to be stationed at Ft. Hood, Tx and Ive been told that its a huge post. 71,000 people live ON post. Ive also been told that its horribly hot and there's snakes and scorpions. So, I guess I'll find out soon. Good Luck!

the best base in the world means diddly squat if the SM is miserable, or the spouse is miserable, or the SM deploys right away. The best on base amenities may mean nothing if there is nothing to do off base for miles around, or if the SM hates the job /people he works with. Or if the spouse tries ot find a job and can't. or the kids are stuck in lousy schools...

Don't ever pick a base based on the best location, or the nicest housing. factor in the job itself, the possibility of deployment, whether right away or later on, extracurricular activities, local economy, is the town military friendly, are the schools decent, and whatever else is important to you happiness as a family.

Fort Jackson is outstanding. It's in a clean safe town with plenty of entertainment and shopping. It's a short drive to Myrtle Beach, one of the finest Atlantic beaches. And it's also close to the mountains. Cost of living is low. Crime rate is very low. Climate is mild - no snow or ice in winter - lots od sunshine (but very hot in summer)
