Because they are not Christians. Both organizations have been denied membership in the World Council of Churches.

Jehovah's Witnesses USED TO believe that Jesus died on the cross, but then we found out that its a stake and not a cross.
Jesus did not die on a cross. He died on a pole, or a stake. The Greek word translated "cross" in many Bibles meant just one piece of timber. The symbol of the cross comes from ancient false religions. The cross was not used or worshiped by the early Christians. Therefore, do you think it would be right to use a cross in worship?—Deuteronomy 7:26; 1 Corinthians 10:14.
Aslo Jesus isn't GOD himself, but the SON of God. Also we do dearly appericate the ransom, in which that Jesus died for us. We express that gratitude by having every year a memorial of Jesus' death. (or what everybody knows as the Lords Evening Meal) Also Jehovah's Witness are christians.

First off, Christ wasn't hung on a cross, but a branchless tree, according to biblical scrolls dating back to the third century. Second, the Bible teaches against the use of ideological symbols to represent God, but today's self proclaimed Christians didn't learn from the Jews when they tried to create an ideological symbol of God at the time of Moses. Faith is in the heart, not in a symbol. If you need a symbol to represent your faith, you don't have your heart in it. Jehovah's Witnesses don't need or desire to use symbols. Their faith is shown clearly to everyone to come into contact with through their hearts.
Though people don't like it, their Bible is the only bible recognized as a translations, rather than a version, like the King James Version, which is a condensement of five other Bibles. In fact, if King James' mother had not died, it might have been named after her, since it was her idea. It has over 20,000 translation errors. If you don't think so, buy a Greek Interlinear Translations at any religious book store. Be sure and look up the Greek spelling for the noun god in the writings of the Apostle John. He used four different spelling for the word, but only one spelling when he referred to the Word (Jesus), Satan, and men as "a god". Or should the all be called translated as "God." Satan would certainly like that.

There is too much emphasis on the cross. It is almost beat into us throughout our lives. There is no real evidence that Jesus died on an actual cross, or just any old peace of wood. It is more likely that the Romans re-used the same wood over and over. After all it was expensive, and the Romans didn’t regard him as anything more than a troublemaker.
Some non-denominational Christian churches have no cross (or maybe a small one) Most contemporary Lutheran churches have no large cross, or statues (Usually only a painting, at the most).
I would hardly call the organizations cults. You are welcome to come and go as you please. I do know that they control their members. In some cases they don’t allow their members to smoke, or drink coffee. They encourage their members to reverse vasectomies. Some even go as far as to attempt to match single couples (sort of an arranged marriage thing).

I am a Mormon. We do believe that Jesus died on a cross for us, as for the reason it is not a symbol of our religion is that is just what the cross is is just a symbol, not to be worshiped. You may see a Angel at the the top of our temples, who is blowing a horn. For the significance of this I would like you to study the book of Revelations there you will find the answer to why it is there. The lord has long used a trumpet to call those who would hearken to his voice in times of joy and trouble and as the last days are upon us he is doing so once again to the world.

I can't speak for Mormons, but JW's do not believe that Jesus is God, which makes them an illegitemate Christian religion.
The also deny that Christ was crucified on a cross. The believe that the greek word used in the Bible should be translated as "torture stake" not "cross."
Yes, I know. It doesn't make an sense. Not etymologically nor historically.
But they have translated their own Bible and changed meanings, added words and removed words so that it supports their own theology. Steer clear of them. They do not believe that Jesus is the way to Heaven, but that membership in their orginization is the way to Heaven.
It's silly, but don't hate them for it. Pray for them. They need deliverance.

In a study of Mormanism that stemed from my own curiosity I found out that it was basically a made up religion from some guy's (Smith I think was his name) dream he supposedly had. He led all these people to believe that God was speaking to him in his dreams, and Voila we have Mormanism. It's based on fiction where Christianity is based on historically documented fact. And I am not just talking about the Bible. I am talking about documented in resources that were written by highly respected historians of the acient times who were not believers and therefore would have nothing to gain by biasing their accounts of history. (Josephus for example)
In speaking with a Jehovah's Witness, I questioned her about what they taught about Jesus in their religion. They do not believe that Jesus was devine. Therefore they would not have a cross as they do not worship Christ.

Being neither Mormon nor a Witness, I won't try to speak for them. However, the cross is not the only symbol of Christianity. Even the cross itself takes different forms (many Catholic churches have not only the cross but a very graphic statue of the dying Christ upon it).
Personally, were I to have been executed on a cross and people chose to honour my sacrifice there after, I would not appreciate them using the instrument of my execution as a symbol of their regard for me. But that's just me.
I much prefer the fish as a symbol of Christ.

I don't know about Mormons, but JWs believe that Jesus was crucified on a straight stake, not a cross, so there wouldn't be any need to have a cross on their building.
MOst people dont consider them Christian anyway.

If you had died on a cross would you like to see that painful instrument all the time, especially from those who say that they are your followers? I think that is among the reasons why some Christians don't flash these crosses.
