There are those out there that get very agitated when their idea of truth is challenged. This to me shows an internal insecurity of what they believe. If what you believe is truly true and you 100 percent believe it, then it should not bother you so much what anyone says in regards to it. In fact without testing our ideas about truth we can never really be sure if what we believe is the truth or whether we have been indoctrinated, self or otherwise, in something that is not true or at least w(hol)e(y) true.

Evilest_Wendy, truth is truth. But now that you ask, I was thinking along the lines of spiritual truth as I distinquish truth from general reality.

free2praise76, you sure have a lot of faith in history. Have you not heard that to the victors go the spoils of war? This includes also the writing of it's history. Unless you have a magical method of tapping the Akashic records you better stick with what you have experienced and go from there.

IN Atlanta, The truth never changes and the truth is constantly in flux. To qoute a famous philosopher, a man can never step in the same river twice.

suspendor, first are you implying I am a troll? As bugs bunny once said, 'He don't know me very well, do he'. I can assure you I am sincere but then again go ahead and scrutinize me to see if I am true. As for your spiritual claims how do you know you are not assuming and from their projecting your assumtions onto the world which reflect back upon to you, validating your dear assumptions?

commonxsense..., agreed somewhat, but you are forgetting that those on a different level than you are I might need a challenge to proceed to the next level. Whose to say when or who the vehicle wil be. You are assuming from a passive standpoint. And I am assuming from an active one.

pangel, you gave a decent and valid answer. It would be nice to dialog with you some time to test the sincerity of your assertions. Though in general I am fairly trusting, and sense you say what you mean.

Don H, you are absolutely right. Truth does not need to be defended, nor in my opinion, is easily offended. However what we think is truth needs to be scrutinized because among being finite and subject to error, the Truth in context to the times and situations has the appearance of change and hence we must constantly be re-evaluating in order for what we think is Truth does not simply turn into our own conceptual rigidity.

i totally agree with you totally , i willingly and happily invite people to question my beliefs , how else would i see any inconsistencies that need more thought and questioning , how else can i help people understand why i believe what i do
my religion is not a fixed religion it can change daily dependant on anything new i learn or any idea that needs altered
people should always be open to new concepts , new ideas , new truths or even non truths about what they believe

The great thing about the truth is that it needs no defense, it stands up quite well on it's own.
Unlike an untruth that is seen as something that needs to be constantly defended.
The interesting thing about the truth is that it could care less if you happen to believe in it or not. It does not see your belief in it as being relevant to its existence in any way.
This is because your belief either for or against the truth does not effect its reality it in any way at all. It simply is.
Your denial of it is irrelevant to it and changes absolutely nothing about it.
The neat thing about the truth is, you can miss it. You can loose it, or even simply deny it.
It just continues to be there waiting patiently for you to discover it again.
Makes you wonder if some of these ideas that people seem to feel the need to defend so vigorously, are actually the truth at all.
Love and blessings

Jesus said that He is The Way ,and The Truth, and The Life.
There are a lot of challenges to what he said on this site, and even when He was walking on the earth.
The truth is tested by reality, and reality is that His bones are absent from the grave!
There are people on this site that get so upset that they want to go out into the street and destroy things when the truth of their false belief is presented with actual evidence from their own holy writings.
Some of my answers attaining to the fact that Muhammed had a sexual relationship with a 9 year old Child when he was 54 years old have been removed because of persons hitting the abuse button.

God's Word says that if you seek the truth you will find it.
It's what you do with this truth that really counts.

Contrary to what some believe, the Truth can be tested. God does not want robots to follow Him, but people who have minds and thoughts. The Church is not threatened by questions asked, but by no questions asked.
And the Truth never changes ( quote- Kenneth Copeland )

but of course & absolute truth does, but without all the lies and those who give them energy, where would the challenge be in a game of searching for truth? This is a individual sport and not everyone is on the same level of awareness, so we must let those on the lower levels live and learn at their own pace, and ignorance of absolute truth and one's response when defending their position is part of that pace.

Actually, I don't know why you bother to even mention people's 100% belief in the "truth". Being true is something that is independent of people's belief. A statement is true when it is consistent with reality. THAT is why I am not bothered when people pop off about Christianity - it is consistent with historical fact, it is consistent with metaphysics and it is consistent with science (yes, I said it, wrap your head around that one).

I don't get 'agitated'. I enjoy researching questions that have the potential to save an eternal soul. I do, however get tired of answering questions from people just trolling around. If they're not serious, why should I be?

Truth always withstands scrutiny because truth must come from God. The reasoning of men will always fall to its knees before the truth of God. When Pontius Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" he was looking truth in the eye and could not see it. Jesus gave him no answer. This is what happens when we try to apply to truth of men against the truth of God---we get no answer from God because of our foolishness.

If something can't stand up to scrutiny, can't be proven in some manner, then it's not real truth. You can believe something, and it becomes true for you, but if you can't support it, or prove it, then it isn't and can't be truth for someone else
