Your right! To heck w/ all the nay-sayers!
Believe in what you want and make sure you keep your eyes open so you can see what is true, true for you that is, they have their "truths" which they NEVER question to be true, yet people like you that DO question, finally find what is true.
Religious fanatics and atheists can be barbaric, which is pretty bad, but what is worse is: When they commit these horrible acts against others with different views and then JUSTIFY it as GOD'S WILL!
yea right! they just use that as an excuse to do what every brainwashed fanatic has the potential of doing, do to the fact that they were not given the option of CHOOSING how to believe, plus most violence and waring in the world today is caused by religious strife, you dont see atheists and agnostics going head to head over their beliefs do you?

I had your same situation I was raised Catholic and didn't really care much about it , it didn't transmit to me,then I realized that it wasn't the religion that we belong to that counts, which sometimes is just something that has been ,catholic family must be a catholic,it is what we have in out hearts that really counts, whether u belong to one religion or the other doesn't matter at all, but our life style that really counts, how we live our lives and the goodness and kindness that we must try to bring out, try to live with high moral standards, and try to help people who are less fortunate than yourself when you have this possibility, helping doesn't always mean in a financial way but being there for someone , I am sure that will mean so much more to God then sitting in a pew on a Sunday morning, I have always tried to live by this rule trying to put myself in the situation of the person i may be criticizing and more important do unto others as you want them to do unto you, when u can do this be sure God and Jesus will be smiling unto you, Dody.

I was raised catholic too, they taught me a lot of nonsense about a judgmental God.
A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.
After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.
Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.
I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.
I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.
If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.
I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress.
Love and blessings
Your brother

To be honest with you, it is more complicated than that. I have dealt with so many Catholics that hate each other. I live in a very Catholic community. I get hammered with the “You are going to burn in hell”, about two or three times a month. Maybe I am wrong, but I have seldom ever seen a happy Catholic.
Honestly I really don’t think Jesus had in mind jerks that go around saying things like, “I won’t go if so-and-so goes”, calling people heathen, and so on.

As a preacher, I have never much cared for religion either, which is why I am a Christian. Christianity is about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and not about trying to work your way into heaven by following a lot of rules that are impossible to obey or doing a lot of deeds that are impossible to complete. Christianity is the only truly spiritual faith. I am not surprised with your frustration with Catholicism, as it is filled with a mass of dogma that most people cannot understand or adhere to. Jesus is really quite simple to understand---he loved us enough to die for our sins so that we would not have to do so---and he sits at the right hand of the Father as our priestly intercessor against Satan. You cannot get any simpler than this. Jesus loves you.

Well , religion is something that comes from inside. All religion stated to leave the people of other religion alone. But difference in religion also causes difference in way of living and thinking and therefore a difference in opinion. Some people just take it too seriously. But they forget that this world is just a test (we are in a matrix) . Dudgement day is coming and we need to earn heaven and prove our selves to GOD that we are worthy.

Religion is a tool of the oppressor. Revolt and burn the Vatican to the ground. Release the shackles that bond you to a doctrine of hatred.
Kill the Pope. Then it's time to take out Muslim leaders.

I'm with you in your concern. I'm also with you in not pursuing religion. However I consider myself a follower of Jesus which doesn't entitle me to truth monopoly. Whereas religion speaks of human being trying to reach the divine, the gospel reverses that and claims that is God the one longing to have fellowship with human beings. It seems that it is way more fun around here on earth that out there in heaven.

I don't think that Jesus anticipated the growing of religion (or maybe He did).
Religion has become all about "who's right", and "who's wrong". If you want to love Christ, love Him, and don't follow a new religion.
Follow the Bible.
