Maybe, there were wars started over religion but faith is another story.

In my honest opinion, yes. Religion has been the worlds greatest business throughout the history of civilization. The Catholic church owned about half of Europe at one time in the past. People say that religions arent about money. Well I say that is crap. I live in a very small town in Alabama. And one preacher here makes more than a licensed and practicing attorney. I personally feel that is horse crap. What I mean by that is that a preacher should be more of a part time thing. It all comes back to money being the real "root" but religions play a big part in it. For the better part of history the social classes have been broken into groups. The highest and richest being royalty. The next was clergy. And who were the clergy? The priest and all religious workers. Once again bringing back money into the picture. I personally feel I have rambled enough, but I could keep on, but alas I shall not.

I would love to see your reasons - The Other Girl

I could easily go into details on why the answer is no but I will say it in two points

1) If religion was the root of all evil then evil actions would only come from religious families and non religious families(which is the large majority) would only do good actions- which is far from true

2) 99.999% of people in prison committed crimes that had nothing to do with being driven by religion.

Quite the opposite, the existence of evil is what drove people to religion in the first place. Religion was formed as a way of saying "my way will protect you from evil better than their way".

No. Economics is a great motivation for going to war. Religion is whats used to get soldiers to fight harder and keep citizens in support of the effort. Look at every conflict and you will find that there was someone making money or acquiring resources.

No, the human race's sin nature is the root of all evil. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

All people are sinful and capable of great evil.

Why do you think the war in the middle east started? Religion causes problems. Glad I don't believe in religions.
