Which part of it? The fact that they are now charging for crap rather than giving it away??

Please. Food? On American Airlines, you can't even get a pillow these days. All the airlines have cheaped out due to high fuel prices and who knows what else. But, American seems to be the worst lately. We sat on the ground in Miami for 4 hours. They would NOT take us back to the gate and they would only SELL us soda that they had on the plane. Yes, even after the 4 hours of sitting on the tarmac, they had the absolute balls to NOT offer everyone the sodas for free but to still charge us. And, since it was a short flight (to Newark) there was no food on the plane to buy, just some crap peanuts.

If airplane food is really that much of a concern bring your own food on board. 90% of the time its better anyways. Some airlines, esp. Middle Eastern carriers have good food such as Gulf Air(GF) whcih has its own on-board chef.

Here's a good site for airplane food:
http://www.airlinemeals.net/

To sum it up, basically in a world where on 6 hour flights you get snacks and beverages. You can't expect too much from the airlines regarding food these days unless you pay the premium, but even that is on the decline.

It's ridiculously priced for what they give you. When I fly, I usually carry something on the plane that I buy at the airport. It's much MUCH cheaper and a hell of a lot tastier. I also bring along some small snacks, especially if it's a longer flight. I refuse to pay the prices for what the airlines are offering you now.

I know. they give you roasted Peanuts and pretzels and granola bars. Nothing that will fill your stomach. It's horrible. Maybe they should give like chips, different kinds of trailmix, candy, crackers, other stuff. I am tired of the food. We just bring our own food. Such as, M&Ms, Licorice, CandyBars, GoldFish, Pretzels, Chex Mix, Choclate Granola Bars. We pack a bag filled with goodies. So it takes away from the horrible food on the airplane. When we go on SouthWest Airlines they don't charge Unless it's something new. We have always taken southwest and they always give you the same old food. Try what we do. It helps!!

Wanna see airline food pictures, I've seen worse than that. Go to this website (below) and look at any airline meals that they serve and you be the judge.

It is obvious that you are not a seasoned traveler. Those of us who are know better than to rely on the airlines to take care of our dietary needs. We plan ahead and make sure that we have eaten a decently prepared meal before heading to the airport and pack a light snack in our carry-ons.

airlines just want to go with the cheapest food available. i guess since it may have to do with the rise in fuel costs. they want to be careful what they spend most of their money on.

Meals in first class are excellent...at least on the airlines I've flown on. If you don't like it, bring your own.
