They seem to want to live in a fairy tale world where they make up a place where they feel they can survive. A place where everything fits just so, so they can deal with reality. The reality of a creator God is too frightful for them, so they are able to supress that truth inroder to make it day to day.

People are entitled to their beliefs no matter what they are. There are certainly some beliefs that you may think are misguided. However, it is still their right.

Did you ever think that maybe God was made up to make people like you comfortable, and not have to deal with the realities of life. That God was just designed so you people would have someone to blame when things go wrong and forget when things go right. Did it never cross your mind that if something goes wrong it is your fault and you should take the blame instead of looking for answers in the sky? Do you ever wonder why if God is the creator and Adam and Eve had reason that there was no spoken language for the first 2.5 million years of mans existence. Do you ever wonder why the bible started some 2.8 million years after man. Do you ever wonder why religious people only have half the answers and can only quote what they have been spoon feed all their lives. Do you ever wonder why if God is the word, that man continues to change that word? Maybe you should wake up....

Yeah the idea of there being a god scares me and you know why? The idea that there is supposed to be a god who created supposedly everything and has the power to do anything allows tiny babies to suffer slow and painful deaths. Go volunteer at a childrens hospital for about a week and tell me if you still think the idea of God is still all that great. Dont be scared , go and kick it in the hospital for a week and try and tell all those tiny little kids who are there in pain slowly dieing just how great god is. Or how he could sit back and watch as all those starving little kids in Africa die. Not one of those children ever could of done anything so bad that they should have to suffer like that and mass murders kick it in prison getting 3 meals a day. Whos living in a fairy tale land? Not me .

Um, I didn't "make up" this place where I live. I would be making more money, have a home out in the country instead of in town, everyone I know would be taken care of, there wouldn't be terrorists attacking people, everything would be at peace... even with different opinions about what God is... or if there is a God... IF I had just made this place up.

This IS Reality.

They like the little game where they believe that if they don't believe in God and the Bible, then He doesn't count 'for them' and poof, He just goes away. It's called subjective reality. In other words, I'm answering your question because I believe there is a computer in front of me and there is a question on Yahoo answers about people living in a fairy tale world. You only exist as long as I believe you do.

A guy at a bus stop once told me, "You know, quantum mechanics has proven reality is subjective." I said, "So, if I stomp on your big toe you won't really feel it because you're just a figment of my imagination. Hold still."

Nice explanation of this theory on wikipedia, check the link below:

People who don't believe in God, or are at least agnostic, aren't "afraid" to believe in a God, but are not convinced by what the religions offer as an explanation.
The fairy tale actually lies in the BELIEF, because nobody knows for sure.

Why do you believe in the fairy tail of belief/god? Early primitive man, who didn't understan nature around him, made up spirits to explain the wind, vulcanoes, you name it. As men progressed, those spirits became gods. Isn't it sad that there are still modern people who believe in something that is basicallyt the same as praying to a tree?

Why do people believe taking drugs and smoking pot is a cool thing?

Why do people believe Communism is better than Capitalism?

Why do people believe enslaving women and making them 2nd class citizens is the way things should be?

If there were only 2 people on Earth, they still would have different views on many subjects.

Human beings have free will. Life is not predestined. We all make our choices on belief systems with the information given to us. No one choice is better than another and each is welcome to believe what they deep down believe. It has nothing to do with survival, survival is a physical thing. Truth & perception is always in the eye of the beholder.

Well if God exists then aren't we all following his plan whether we know it or not? The real question should be why does an omnipotent being desire worship from us lowly and insignificant beings?

Feel however you like about God but don't expect others to buy into your beliefs.

ha. ha. nice try. but you came nowhere close. sorry.

or, as i said elsewhere, just because you belief the great pumpkin is coming does not mean i believe in fairy tales because i don't believe the great pumpkin is coming.

Glad the FACTS about the mythology nature of christianity's 'holy' texts are getting through. Keep trying!
