Darkness is the absence of light. Now if you put on the lights then there is no more darkness. But light emanates only until a certain point. Darkness still exists in the shadows where light cannot reach it.

I've heard it said that dark doesn't really exists because it's merely the absence of light. If that's true then the dark doesn't go anywhere.

That hurts my brain.

Replaced by the light. Where does the light go when you turn it off? Just no light reaching into your eyes.
