it seems as if arranged marriages work, the people are forced to get to know each other and they grow to love each other..

and on the flip... a marriage based on love doesn't usually work...

that's crazy .... in our society we get to choose our mate, court with our mate then marry... and most marriages end in divorce ... wow what a world we live in...

free will is our worst accomplishment ..

In this century I can't believe there are still arranged marriages.
I personally have never met anyone who had an arranged marriage. Going way back to Sweden where my family came from.......there are NO records of arranged marriages.
If you live in the United States, I say live like an American and Fall in love and choose who you marry.
I just can't even imagine an arranged marriage. It is like from another planet or something.

I was married in an arranged marriage. As my husband-to-be and I walked down the aisle we just glared at each other and hated each other. For 30 years I stayed with him as he kept saying he "owned" me. He would bring one of my favorite pets in the house and slit its throat to show me he would do that to me if I ever tried to leave. We lived on cult grounds and I couldn't leave the grounds without saying where I was going.
I had 4H'ers. One day I had them pack all my stuff in the car, told the people at the cult gate I was taking the 4H'ers home. Ran away and didn't come back. I was homeless for a time. Went to the library and met men on the net.
Found a wonderful man, finally got a divorce, and have been married for 3 great years!!!

Please don't go for an arranged marriage!!!!

It depends on how you are brought up. If you are brought up in a conservative family then arranged marriage is better where things are pre-decided and chances of getting fooled is minimum. But if you are a fighter and want to carve out your own design love marriage is good but involves a little bit of risk.

I would really consider a loved marriage...
its when u are completely aware of all the neccessary and non essential information of your partner and are completely ready to face them under any circumstances. othen, we forget that success of love marriage ratio against the arranged is quite low due to the fact that most couples react with a different attitude once they start their own lives altogether from scratch. and then seeing ur loved one react strangly to our questions or statements causes more damage to the sinking ship. then comes the seperation or a months off notice from the two and lastly we settle for a divorce.
But, the important thing to note here is, with co-operation, negotiation, sacrifice, understanding and TRUST, the ship can sail to its glory for eternity.
on the other hand, love is gift from God, and hafing love for someone and then marry that someone is more than a Gift. Ofcourse, not all roads lead to your home, some have turns or bends to them. but with patience, we all reach the destiny, by hook or by crook...
guess that explains my theory of love!!!!!
opinions please

Love marriage: I feel that if two people are in love and are willing to comit themselves without force is a great thing and plus you have much to share with the one you love. Which will bring great things in the future.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I have seen bad things and good things with both. The culture that you come from determines which you follow. Which is better, to tell you the truth I don't know. All that I know is that if it is meant to be it will be.
