He relates to you as his security blanket until he become acclimated to his new home. Yes this is very normal. I do the same thing whenever I get picked up by a new woman who takes me to her home. After a few days, I learn where all the comfortable places are. That usually includes where it is most comfortable to sleep, a place where I can keep an eye on the refrigerator, the bathroom, and hopefully the bar. It is easier for me to relax if I get a treat every now and then and have my ears scratched.

Very normal. I adopted a dog (2 yrs. old) from the shelter on Memorial Day week-end, and she literally followed me everywhere for 4 days. Slowly she began to feel more comfortable and now she is pretty well settled. She still gets overly excitied when I come home from work, and jumps on me, which I am still trying to break her of. You were/are the rescuer! The dog is so happy, he dosen't to lose you after you you rescued him!

It is very normal. Remember the phrase "man's best friend". That's part of what they do when they develop an attachment to a person. They become like your shadow. It's almost like having a child in some ways. If you've ever fed a stray dog or cat, then you know what I mean. It's hard to get rid of them; cute if u like that sort of thing.

He's looking to you to be the "pack leader". You are the supplier of the "kill", you tell him when and what he can eat, you teach him all the pack rules...like peeing outside is good, but peeing inside is bad.

I have a 3 year old Lab mix who is happiest when his nose is 2 inches from the back of my left knee. And when I leave a room, I have three dogs who go with me. I am the pack leader, and the pack follows me wherever I go, whenever they can.

Some breeds are very dependent and like to be with you all the time. How does the dog do when you leave it alone? That could be a problem. I don't mind my pal following me but I had to train her to realize I'll be back when I leave her alone.

yes, my dog is terrible with this. not only does she follow me everywhere, she goes crazy if i leave her. she watches from the window when i get on the bus to go to school and she's always by the door when i get home. if i have to work late, she waits up for me. recently, i went to d.c. for 3 days on a school trip, my mom said that dusty whined constantly and didn't eat at all. i felt bad. and sh isn't just a puppy either, i have had her for 6 years and she doesn't leave my side unless she has to.

Yep, I have three shadows that follow whereever I go. One in particular always lays down outside the bathroom door while I'm in there. I think she's convinced I might sneak out the secret back entrance.

Perfectly normal my dog follows me everywhere it's just showing that it loves you and is interested in what you are doing! He also might have been abandoned in the past so wants to make sure you don't leave him.

If he just came out of kennels, he thinks you're great. You'd be complaining if he ignored you. Just be careful when you're cooking and take a step back; the pathetic high pitched yelp and guilt trip look with the one, raised, trembly paw is the price you pay.

yes it's ok. he's probably scared to be left again, the big test will be the very first time you leave him home alone, make sure he has plenty of toys and chews to keep his mind occupied, try not to leave him alone too long for the first few times, just so he will know you won't be abandoning him all over again. good luck. and bless you for taking him in. ; )
