If we were to find some scribbles on a piece of paper, and ask what they mean, then we would be asking what the person who made the scribbles meant them to signify. Scribbles only mean something if they were made for a reason; if we found out that the scribbles were just drawn at random then we would cease to look for meaning in them. Random scribbles don’t mean anything.

The same is true of life; it only makes sense to ask What is the meaning of life? if we believe that we were put here for a reason. If life simply evolved on Earth by accident, if we just happen to be here, then, it is suggested, life cannot have any meaning in the literal sense. Life can have meaning in the literal sense only if it was created for a purpose. If there is no Creator of life then there can be no meaning of life

Most of the bible and particularly the old testament was written by men who made it up or heard the stories a folklore. The original written in sanskrit and translated to Greek and then to English by men giving their own meaning to the translations. Then the scholars of King James purged the writings of anything not to suit their preconceived ideas. Is this a book we can say is the pure holy word?

Okies, let me continue using your little example. You've decided the scribbles mean nothing, they are just scribbles and you toss the paper in the trash. Then walk off the side of a cliff. Little did you know the scribbles were a warning that said "look out, there's a cliff behind you".

The same is true of life, it only makes good prudent sense to ask what is the meaning of life. If you just chuck the whole idea because you think it all scribbles and we're here on accident, you will miss out on a lot of exciting adventures because you've walked off the side of a cliff.

Also, you say life can have meaning in the literal sense only if it were created for a purpose. I'll go along with that, that is true. Everything on this planet is created with a purpose, whether you believe in a Creator or not. So, what is the purpose of man? You tell me. What purpose does man serve on this planet? Man is neither predator nor prey. He is not consumptive of any specific flora or fauna. His bodily wastes do not contribute to any food group for any other species. His remains create no haven, his bones are not contributory to the earth in any way that is necessary to the fragile ecosphere of this planet.

So if we have no purpose, why are we even here? Nay my friend, your theory is a bit flawed. :)

The Bible was put together from many writings from different sources. From people who were there at the time of the events. Science is always trying to disprove the Bible and it's teachings, but if you watch National Geographic and the History channels, you will see that each time it is proven to be facts of actual events.
Yes life has meaning because we were created from His image to protect and care for all His creations. Altho, it seems to me at the moment that we, as humans, aren't doing such a good job of it now.
I believe God will send His wrath on earth once again. I want to be in the shelter of His arms when it happens.
God Bless you and have a wonderful day.

The Bible is the most accurate piece of collected ancient manusciprts. Its too long to describe it here. You can try checking with www.carm.org alot of info there. One good book is the Rose Book of Bible Charts and Maps. You have to understand who wrote the many manuscripts that make up the Bible and when. Then you will get the idea.

One of the interesting facts from the Bible for me is that it foretold the State of Israel get born in a day. And do you know that they found the sea which Moses divided and found corals that resemble chariot axles and wheels. Because wood disentergrate and replaced by corals under the sea.

Oh and go to www.family.org and look for Drive Thru History DVDs for a good and fun history

Happy research!

Your main question, and then the body of your reasoning, do not walk hand in hand.

If you are asserting that the Bible was merely scribbles written thousands of years ago, and that we have no way of knowing what they mean, well that's just childish.

The Bible has been translated from its original language to many other languages. Its not just scribbles, it was written in languages that are still understood today.

How can I believe the Bible? Because I have yet to find anything in it that makes me not believe it.

GREAT Question. Darwinian Evolution was the basis for Communism, Nazism and unbridled Capitalism. Today it is the Keystone of modern humanism. In fact it is so important that it is the one theory you cannot even mention is a THEORY.

The simple truth is Evolution is bad, outdated, non-supportable theory being protected because of its importance to modern humanism. It has no basis in real science.

The simple truth is from a scientific standpoint there has to be a Creator and thus meaning to life. I would suggest starting at: http://www.intelligentdesignnetwork.org/ . Not all the arguments are compelling but those that are suffice.

How can you believe the Constitution? Considering we have all of this particular "scribble" that was a total fallacy before the ink was dry (and it's merely a few centuries old - not at all like the ancient Scriptures that have yet to be intelligently refuted). "All men are created equal"..... uh... with the exception of anyone that isn't white doesn't own property.... and by men, I mean men only, not "mankind". Get real... you probably believe George Washington was the first President.

It is not a matter of simply believing the Bible. It is a matter of believing in the God whose revelation is recorded in the Bible. Moreover, someone can assent to your conditional statement: if there is no creator of life, then there can be no meaning of life, without accepting that there is no Creator. I agree if there were no God life would be meaningless, etc. However, that does not imply that there is no God. However, if you see the world as meaningless, you will not see the work of God. You are blinded to truth by your materialist ideology.

I've wondered myself about the history of all this Religion and Bible stuff. With the amount of copies out there, who ever wrote it would have made a lot of money, if they sold it.

People seems to have to have something to guide them in their lives. So since writing books was the "IN" things back then. And since Religion was such a big part of their lives back then, what else do you think they would write on?
