One of the most important issues that people must address is the person of Jesus of Nazareth. Some people would rather relegate him to the category of "Good Man" and let that be it, but that is not an option. This man called Jesus existed. There are historical records that have recorded this, Josephus, a Jewish historian says that he was put to death for the crime of treason under Pontius Pilate and there are other historical records indicating His existence. So he wasn't a legend. He lived.

So, was He simply a good man teaching religious philosophy? That is not an option. Either He was what He said He was, He was lying, or He was a lunatic! Those are the only options.

Hey mojo, after observing your questions you've been asking on Y!Answers, my assessment is that you get a kick out of questioning organized religion. Which you have every right too, and why shouldn't you. You as many people are, disillusioned and turned off by religion. Even Jesus, turned on organized religion during his day! But at least, he had enough balls to profess what he believes in! How about you? Do you have a belief, you don't got to tell us what they are. No one cares, really, just as long as you know where you stand? Most of your questions are pretty much accusations, and attacks on Christian who absolutely, don't know what they believe in, and are too stupid to find out! Let them be stupid! It's like you are hunting in a fenced-in area full of game! There's no skill in that!

Now to answer your question!

I gotta to go with Lord. Because so profound and intricate was the development of doctrines, methodologies, and philosophies, that within the categories you've laid out, Lord fits!

C'mon, if he was a lair and a lunatic, wouldn't that have been exposed by now. For example, we have the moonies, John Smith, and David Koresh, exposed for being phonies.

Now whose to say that moses, Isaiah, and all the other prophets were liars and lunatics! They are widely accepted!

All I'm saying there has been no evidence to conclude either way, maybe it's Gods way to instill a greater faith, to either take his word for it or reject! All in all, God is not wasting his time any more to care if You reject him and his plan or not!

Remember, Jesus claims to be in the hebrew, "Jehovah Elohim" (Son of God), aka the pillar of smoke above the tabernacle, the one who wrestled the lion with Daniel, the one who spoke to moses on the mountain! The second part of the trinity before he was made Human!

I have actually read Josephus and he makes no mention of Jesus whatsoever, not in Jewish Antiquities or in The history of the Jewish War, none of the other records kept by the Romans during that period mention Jesus either. Before you start claiming historical support make sure it exists. Was he a Zionist cult figure created after Titus Flavius Vespasianus sacked the province of Judea for Rebellion and ordered all of the ruling class Jews that survived into slavery like the Jewish general Josephus or exile like many others including the founders of the early christian cult (church) which was an underground paramilitary movement and outlawed at first. Was this Jesus the Messiah the one supposed to lead them back into possession of the province and defeat the Romans? I believe he was a made up character for political purposes. Not a real person at all. So not a Lord Liar or a Messiah and certainly not a Lunatic or a Wise Teacher. But a total fabrication from the word go.

As you said, Jesus is a historic and historical fact. What are you doing with your question is that you trying to judge the man by giving options and stopping people's thinking. However I will try to answer tour question not according to the fact or reality of the man but according to the angle at which one can see the man.

So
if I were Christian, I would choose "He was what he said he was"
If I were a Jew, I would choose "He was Lying"
If I were a thinker, I would say he was a lunatic because he faced the clergymen with realities and facts of themselves and he freed the minds and thinking of all people in a time when none could dare say a word of change as people were oppressed religiously and politically. How heavy the burden was but Jesus was able to convey the message, thus he was condemned to death. Is freeing people's minds worth his death????

I heard a story a few weeks ago about an event that happened. Heard the same story from somebody else a few days ago about the same event. The two stories were entirely different. That difference happened in only a few weeks. This story of Jesus is 2000 years old. One can only imagine the fabrications during that time. Even so called historical facts are skewed. I recall events in the 60s entirely different than the history books of today. Who knows exactly what the Jesus guy did or said for sure. One must remember the Romans latched onto the christian religion to bond their empire together.

You can commit suicide, leave the country, or lock yourself in a room where no one else has to hear you. Those are _your_ only options, since you feel you can dictate what others are allowed to say or think.

Or, you can deal with reality. Nazareth didn't exist 2000 years ago, and of all the writers of that time whose words we have (eg. Pliny the Elder), they all talk about Roman occupation in other countries, but none of them ever mentions "jeebus". It's a fictional character. If you want to talk, address the facts instead of ignoring them, then you'll sound credible.

As well, cutting and pasting a fraudulent claim that other crustians have been making for decades does not make you profound, it shows how little originality and thought you have on your own.

If you want to believe, then believe, but farcical claims make you look farcical.

The Christian would be reading here, in the Quran, everything he wanted to hear about Jesus, but in a most noble, elevated and sublime language. He could not help being moved by it.

In these eight terse verses from 42 to 49 we are told:
(a) That Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a virtuous woman, and honored above the women of all nations.
(b) That all that was being said was God's own Revelation to mankind.
(c) That Jesus was the "Word" of God.
(d) That he was the Christ that the Jews were waiting for.
(e) That God will empower this Jesus to perform miracles even in infancy.
(f) That Jesus was born miraculously, without any male intervention.
(g) That God will vouchsafe him Revelation.
(h) That he will give life to the dead by God's permission, and that he will heal those born blind and the lepers by God's permission, ... etc.

Maybe he was a great man. And he was the first
modern man in history of men ...

"Son Of God" ? Who cares nowadays ?
For me it is more important what he said and his teaching
about love and respect ... grace ... forgiving also the
enemy. That could be important also in our times, because
the W A R isn't still over ...

When I meet him, Rabbi Jesus The Lord of Nazareth,
here in Berlin, do U know I would do ? I would invite him for
a glass of wine ... and then we would talk all night long ...
about all the trouble in the world .. and why the good guys
mostly die to early .. like Stanley Kubrick or W. A. Mozart ...
and Jimi Hendrix ...

"And who shall stand the day of his coming, and who shall
stand, when he appeareth ... "

If Jesus was a lunatic or heretic, it was only in the eyes of the non believers, remember the people then did not have anyone like him to campare too, he was so different to them. If is is a crazy one, then why does he have our Father in Heaven on His side? I would bet this trumps the crazy idea, eh?

Jesus said "no man is good, only God is good". Now u were created by His word, so u r either a lord, Liar or Lunatic.
John said "as He(Jesus) is so are we"
Now u can wrestle with that.
