This book, along with several dozen other candidates for Scripture was excluded by the Church Fathers because it held many Gnostic ideas. Gnosticism was a virulent heresy which always ended up with its followers becoming, in effect, atheists. That is, considering themselves to be on an equal level with their concept of the godhead.

See St. Irenaeus for a fuller explication of Gnosticism.

So, no, it shouldn't be in Scripture.

It's a story, there is no Adam. At least not one of which a rib was taken to create Eve. You shouldn't take the bible literally. You should care about other people, that's in short what the bible says.

There were hundreds of writings that could be in the Bible but God allowed only what was really pertinent and most important to make the book. If ALL the writings were in the Bible, it would take a pick-up truck to carry it.

Had Adam been able to read or write and had he been a real person, he might have written a book.

As it is, the story of Adam and Eve is one of the creation myths which convey basic truths through the use of fictional characters and events.
