Although Catholics have been trying to put distance between their church and Hitler since his demise, the fact is that many of those whom Hitler put in charge in the Third Reich were like himself Roman Catholics. Adolf Hitler was brought up as a very devout Catholic, and even though he outgrew that church in many respects, he retained many of its beliefs, and found it to his political advantage to maintain to the bitter end his reputation as a Catholic "in good standing".

Pope Pius is guilty of collaborating with Hitler to bring back to life the 'Holy Roman Empire'. Documents showing that was found by Allied forces. As we know by how Catholicism has been in the past, under that 1000 yr reign of Nazism, those not Catholic or converts to it would die.

Pope Pius has a lot of blood on his hands, Catholic blood, by pitting Catholic brother against Catholic brother in war.

He wasn't pope I believe when he initiated the concordat between Hitler and the Church, but he became pope soon after.

Also, Hitler didn't start his physical campaigns until he got religious approval for the Reich. More prove that government leaders want approval from God, so to speak. It's easier to convince the population they are in the right. Hope this answer helps.

Whoa Nellie! First of all, you are very seriously misled about our old friend Adolf Hitler. For a start he was not raised a "very devout Catholic" at all, his family was simply Roman Catholic by heritage. And while he did brutally use all religious institutions as control mechanisms for his fascist National Socialist state, he was a devout atheist materialist and a dedicated follower of Charles Darwin and the Social Darwinism of the "Survival of the Fittest"

In fact he wrote the following about religion:

“(religion is an) …organized lie (that) must be smashed. The State must remain the absolute master. When I was younger, I thought it was necessary to set about (destroying religion) …with dynamite. I’ve since realized there’s room for a little subtlety…”
-Adolf Hitler

He also wrote:

"I regard Christianity as the most fatal, seductive lie that has ever existed."
- Adolf Hitler

I think that rather effectively sticks a large pin in your "Roman Catholic" theory..........

As far as "trusting" any religion or its followers, I think the best you could do is trust a Catholic to be a Catholic, a Muslim to be a Muslim and so forth. (Even there you have to be careful as so many even violate the teachings of their own faiths if they feel God "wills" it.)

If you are basing your condemnation of the Church on it's lack of institutional resistance resistance to Nazism, then you might want to consider the thousands of individual Catholic priests and lay folk who did resist.

The Holocaust, while mainly aimed at Jews, started with abortion then included the mentally ill and finally included anyone who spoke out against the regime. You question could as easily be applied to the medical profession. "How can I trust doctors. They turned over patents to be liquidated."

It certainly was not the finest moment in Church history. However, thousands of individual Catholic Priests were sent to the camps for speaking out against the evil. Thousands of lay catholics died for their individual acts of Christianity. (The Frank family, of Ann Frank, was hidden and helped by Catholics. etc.etc.) And millions of Catholics were in the Armies which put an end to the terror.

The real battle between good and evil goes on in each hart every day. All human institutions, even churches, fail because they fall short of the Glory of God. We can only repent of our sins and return to that which The Lord would have us do.

Not sure. I can trust it because of what it has done for me. Yes, I read about Hitler being a catholic. I know some catholic's who are crazy as a bedbug. Just because you say you are a catholic doesn't make you a good person.

Adolf Hitler may have identified himself as a Catholic, however, in reality, he was heavily into the occult & into divination.

Amongst the millions whom he had persecuted were Catholics, & contrary to recent accusations, Pope Pius XII was opposed to Nazism & Hitler wanted to have him kidnapped & imprisoned.

James 2:14 answers your concerns about how Catholic Hitler was. Your deeds show who you really are. Hitler was no catholic.

In the early days of the catholic church the popes were the worst of humanity for example a Borgia was pope at one time. They seem fine men now except for looking the other way for child molesters.

Putting aside the laughability of religion, one can trust catholics as much as one can trust the protestants for creating the KKK.
