To be human is to think, and strive beyond your own current limitations. Religion teaches many things, but the real problem is how these teachings are interpreted. Violence is part of the human psychology. Excessive violence beyond the need to survive (as with animals) seems to be a peculiar and tragic human trait. Either we will evolve beyond this dangerous tendency or we will all perish.

I think a human is born a mixture of the spirit and the beast. It is that struggle we fight within. I don't think religion teaches anyone anything. Some people from birth are not capable of any type of empathy. People who lack what we call human emotions are simply bad seeds and will not progress to the next stage of existence which comes after death,

To be human is to be consciously aware of the self and aware of God. The bible does teach humanity and it does teach taking responsibility for sin. Sin is also another characteristic of being human---animals do not commit sin,;therefore, they cannot be saved. So much for taking your pet to church and having it baptized. Violence exists in the world because of pride, which is the origin of all sin. If people would refrain from sin, then there would be no violence. This would required the elimination of pride, which would require the elimination of the devil who is the originator of pride. In heaven there is no sin because there is no devil and sin is not of the nature of God. Violent people are human, but their emotions are expressed on the animal level. Jesus loves everybody.

No, Love and the humane or love of the humane is shuman nature, as is violence. It is the carnal desire for the things we dont have that appeal to us that creats violence, a sort of lust if you will. Religion has nothing to do with a humans animal instincts, in my opinion.

The main cause of violence is Pride! Man is a Prideful creature and thus the domination complex. Religion teaches humility, the opposite of pride. Man is in err, God is Good.

The Bible God's Word teaches about humanity and love. Sadly many relgions do not portray this, but in order to grasp the reality of God's love, don't look at other religions - seek God for yourself

Religions are exculsive, if they are not they aren't religions. You're either in or you're out. Anything that pits populations against each other in the name of eternal reward is going to cause violence. It's elementary and also the whole point. Forget religions, get spiritual.
