sorry, how exactly is christianity based on historical fact? Yes, jesus existed but there is no proof that he wasnt just another nut who made up a religion.
Personal religion can be good, but organised religion seems to just be a force for destruction, greed and general negativity. The dark ages held back science with religion for a long time (still does for some people).
Religious people seem to just justify everything with 'i believe', as if questioning their beliefs would be an insult, a lack of faith, wouldnt a belief that you had REALLY questioned be of more value than blind faith. even in the face of irrefutable scientific evidence (always of value as it is questioned and examined by answerable people) of inconvenient (to the church) little facts like, the earth goes round the sun, is millions of years old, and life evolved doesnt seem to deter people.
the question is, is it better to live with a possibly disheartening but non-violent truth or a lie that allows us to be comforted that we can waste our life in waiting for another. look at the violence in the holy lands right now.
How arrogant to think you know exactly the spiritual nature of the universe. I dont know for sure, its not possible, no one could but WHATEVER is there im ready to greet with an open mind when i die.

Yes. Men made up religion and all its rules. Religion is constantly changing and contradicting itself. Religion is believing what other people tell you God is and what the holy books say. Each holy book was written and meant to be deciphered by individuals to learn their own faith and gain wisdom. The leaders of churches say their interpretation is the only way. Look to history and you will find that religion is evil. There is tons of information available about the Catholics and Protestants and their evils throughout the years. Keep faith with God as you so choose, and you will be better off than with religion which will steer you wrong.

You can't ask that and expect the whole of society to answer for each other. Every individual is different.
What is important to one person may not be as important to the next.
In the case of religion, there are people that do believe in God and people that do not.
Those that do believe in God would never believe that they would be better off without some form of religion in their lives. And those that do not believe will never take the chance to avidly know religion.

Better off without religion. Anything we have gotten from religions could have been better achieved without the divisiveness and wars spurred by religions. Religion pulls the individual away from true spirituality by teaching them to look outsides themselves to an hierarchical authority which then has power over them. This power breeds evil, as we have all seen. True spirituality does not ask us to 'lord' over another, but sees the oneness of all life.

Religion has caused more wars than anything else. It has been used to persecute people and made their lives miserable. Even today Christians in particular cannot leave people alone to live their lives without interference.
The world would be a much more peaceful place without religion. People would be happier and safer. It is highly likely if that could be achieved that much of what religious zealots label sin would cease too.
As human understanding increases the churches empty. There is hope!!!!

You are better off without God or religion. You will believe more in yourself and trust yourself more. Your life will be more focused on reason and practicality and you will be more in tune with nature, because you will realize that you are one with it and not some higher being that was created. True heaven can be achieved by abolishing a belief in heaven after Earth. Earth is the only life you will have and you must enjoy it now as it was meant to be. You only have one life and you should not waste it praying to something that will never answer, solely, because it does not exist. Those who believe in an afterlife are taking their current life for granted. Forget God and religion, enjoy your life, experiment with it - you only get it once.

I don't think so. Without a religion, you don't have to follow religious stuff-yes. But without it, when the rest of the world turns you down, to whom will you talk to? With a god you believe in, you can pray to him or her and at least feel better that you have told someone about your problem. Without a god, how can you explain the very existence of life? I believe that God made life here on earth.

When one of your loved ones dies, I think you will find you are not better off without religion. If you have left religion behind, I think you will in fact find you are without many of the helps that religion can offer, so I would not recommend burning bridges you may someday need.
