Yes, I have gained a great deal of peace through the ideas Buddhism. If Buddhism feels correct go ahead and practice. There are different variations in the practice: TheravÄda, MahÄyÄna, and VajrayÄna. Moreover,I believe that you could take up Buddhism as a philosophy and remain a Christian (Buddhist don't worship Buddha). Again, do what seems correct to you.

Follow that feeling of peace. But, Buddhism isn't the end of the journey. Buddhism only helps to clear the cobwebs along the way. The journey never ends.

True peace can be found only in Jesus Christ, but we must work on our relationship with Him. We do this by reading the Bible and praying, daily. Just like in any other relationship, there must be constant communication and contact. This builds understanding and closeness.
I am reminded of a story I read some time ago of a 2 Highschool seniors who were very much in love and were driving in the boy's car. She was practically sitting on his lap and he had his arm around her.
After Highschool they got married and in the car she now sat next him, no longer on his lap, but close enough and he still had his arm around her. Some years later in the car, she was sitting all the way by the door, far away from him. As she was thinking of the situation, she looked at her husband and said: "Honey, look how things have changed in our relationship. See how far you are sitting away from me?"
He look at her lovingly and said: " Sweatheart, I'm still very much in the same spot I've always been. Behind the steering wheel! It is you who have moved away from me!"
Dear one, please read Matthew chapter 11 and verses 28 through 30 and John chapter 14 verse 27.
May our Lord Jesus bless and keep you.

According to Buddhism for a man to be perfect there are two qualities that he should develop equally: compassion on one side, and wisdom on the other. Here compassion represents love, charity, kindness, tolerance and such noble qualities on the emotional side, or qualities of the heart, while wisdom would stand for the intellectual side or the qualities of the mind. If one develops only the emotional neglecting the intellectual, one may become a good-hearted fool; while to develop only the intellectual side neglecting the emotional may turn one into a hardheaded intellect without feeling for others. Therefore, to be perfect one has to develop both equally. That is the aim of the Buddhist way of life: in it wisdom and compassion are inseparably linked together.

I have been to Nepal and have seen their teachings and followings. I am very sure, I do not want to be part of such cult.
But I will say this, if you think you will find peace in your heart for other human and creatures in this world from Buddhism, I would say go for it. I can't personally recommend you to do that.

Get one of the books that parallel the teachings of Buddha and Jesus. Jesus repeated those of Buddha. Since Buddha's teachings were attached to books about a vengeful, destructive god like Jesus's teachings were, it's a much more peaceful and serene faith to follow.
