since 1969. When I tried to reply, my message was rejected. I know nothing about scores of young men being killed in police custody. So I'm asking you. What about the scores of young men killed in police custody since 1969.

To be fair, he had an agenda which I didn't include. He said "black men". If it is true that scores of men are being killed in UK jails, I didn't want to cloudy the waters by adding racism into the discussion. And I still don't. A man is a man. And I think that giving it a heading detracts from the deed. I like to think that generally the police are open minded and caring people. However, I know that this isn't necessarily always true - why should we expect more from them than we do ourselves?

Yes, it's true, some young men were killed, and one report described it as murder. But using the term "scores" ?, well, there have been some, but which countries are we talking about ?

Also bear in mind that if someone dies within a certain period of time AFTER being released from Police custody, it is counted as a death in Police custody. Not all of those recorded actually died in a Police cell.

But hey, lets stick with the question... how many have been KILLED???

According to the BBC over 100 people died in police custody in 2003/4. According to the article "Of the 100 deaths, 38 were a result of road accidents involving the police, one was a fatal police shooting, and 38 took place either in or after police custody, including suicide."

there is a great deal of difference between dying in police custody and being killed in police custody, since 1969 there does not seem to be many that have been killed, in police custody, one unlawfull killing the actual police officers were charged ,and found not guilty.
