Oh man Life is too short to be stressed out all the time. I just don't stress or hold grudges. I still drink coffee and eat alot of chocolate. I laugh off most things. And I don't take myself or anyhting else too seriously.

Ecercise, and trying to relieve stress in life are two of the best ways. Try also to restrict certain food items which tend to raise blood pressure, like salt intake.

Blood pressure meds are diuretics, and taking these thing over a long period of time can have a very bad effect on your kidneys. Doctors may not tell you this, until you corner them. I personally try to stay away from all medications, because they all have long term adverse effects on your body. They may relieve whatever problems you have temporarily, but it is the long term effects, I am most concerned about.

There are certain supplements that you can use, including some herbal ones. Noni juice is knows to help in that area as well, check the Internet for some non prescription solutions. I weaned myself off blood pressure medication and just eat right, exercise and keep the stress down.

Particularly in cases of high blodd pressure (hypertension) can be kept under control by modifying diet - eliminate salt, fatty foods, excess protein e.g. only 2 eggs per week, cut back on red meat, eat more chicken and especially fish, lots of vegetables steamed not boiled, grill meats instead of frying, or barbeque is good, increase intake of leafy green vegetables, eat more fruit instead of fruitcake, use unsalted butter, steer clear of fast foods and excercise daily, walk 1 mile or take up a sport you enjoy AND try to avoid stress

Milder forms can be controlled by exercise, diet and stress reduction. A couple of people who worked in stress filled jobs retired and were able to stop taking their BP med's . That may not apply with your situation.

both my parents have high blood pressure, so I wanted to make sure it didn't happen to me.
I haven't eaten red meat in 25 years, and although soul food is a big part of the family eating rarely do I eat fried foods.
Exercise can't hurt either, and keep stress to a minimum (like that's possible...LOL).
My blood pressure is a fairly constant 110/70.
If you are on blood pressure meds, please don't stop taking them until the doctor tells you to...I wish you well
