I think no one has read this question yet. The chiken(close grammatical cousin of the chicken) has appendages, while the egg does not. So.. only the chiken could have "came fist".

There are hundreds of these questions in yahoo, but i'll answer anyways.
If you believe in evolution then the egg came first since the first "chicken" embryo would have been formed from some genetic combination in the reproductive process.
If you belive in other theories relating to religion, either can come first. The higher power may have placed an egg with a chicken in it, or placed a chicken that makes eggs.
Evolution makes more sense to me.

there have been many debates in the past and scientists came to this answer.
any animal in its life time cannot have a mutation in every part of its body forming a completely different organism. for eg: a duck cannot have mutations(which is the only way by which evolution started) enough to make it a chicken. it cannot happen in every single cell.
so it is the egg. in the egg, when it is developing, enough mistakes in copying the dna can make a diffferent animal or bird. this will happen only in few million years.
there are fewer cells then and if a mistake occurs, the mistake is copied in every other cell making a new organism.
so problem solved.

The Chicken came first! When 'God' (I'm not religious, this just makes my point valid) created Adam and Eve he did not send them down to Earth as sperm and an egg. Therefore he did not send down a chicken as an egg. And it is as simple as that :D

nothing came down like that.... everything has grown up through a long evolution.... egg is a cell and cell was grown first, so we can say that egg came first.

the chicken, just like all other birds and fish that lay egg. its because God created everything first in pairs and designed them to multiply and grow.
