If you're in a very classy restaurant you just have to make a sign to the waiter who is always in the background.

otherwise wait for the waiter to come your table and ask for the bill in a polite tone

oh don't act chocked if the prices are way too high (that you thought) it gives a bad impression

If I'm trying to get the waiter/waitresses attention generally I will wait until they are in range to make eye contact, smile and raise my hand a little. When they approach then I just ask for the check. If they're busy with another customer, I will give them the common courtesy of letting them finish with the other table, before making any requests.

If you can't seem to find a waiter/waitress anywhere, try going to the host/hostess of the restaurant to tell them that you're ready to leave, and that you can't find the waiter/waitress.

You've just got to be open and friendly. Don't be afraid to speak.

If you want to do it without saying anything.

Raise your hand, place your thumb and index finger together (making the OK symbol), and move your hand horizontally a few inches.

If this is done in plain view of the waiter, they will bring your bill.

Depends on which restaurant, some restaurant you need to pay at the counter, some bill you first before you starts to eat and of course some waiter
will give you the bill. To catch their attention, you have to say "excuse me, bill please".

When he is close enough, just ask for it.
If he is too far away to hear you, but he can see you, go through the motions of pretending to write in the air. He'll get the message.

Yell "Garcon, L'additionsi-vous plais" This will completely Hornswaggle him, unless he is French, but you will grab his attention. If French just call Hey Froggie
