my daughter is picking up smoking!! when she speaks to me i could almost always smell strong cigarette smell. once i even found some 'ashes' on her table. mind you..t it couldn't be anything else since it looks like a grayish powder to be and it's definitely not makeup. i've confronted her many times over this issue but she always tell me that many people from her school smoke.. once i deducted her allowance for a week and she became so angry she refused to speak to me. when can she be honest with me!! i just want her to quit smoking.. :( anyone can give me some advice?

I have been smoking, and my family found out. They took my cigarettes off me and took away my allowance permanently... This made it worse, I know it's really wrong, but instead I just steal the money to get them, shoplift them, or I steal them off my Dad... I'm sure you don't want the same for your daughter...

I would recommend talking to her calmly and asking her to stop, if she still doesn't then begin taking away privaliges... If that doesn't work I would say have a serious chat with her, say that you are upset she is doing that to herself etc. If not you'll just have to let her but maybe saying she will get less allowance, till you are sure she has given up. Or is maybe grounded until she promises not to smoke... Tell her if she breaks it, it will hurt you very deeply, and all your trust will be ruined (guilt tripping works well) For Gods sake whatever you do, don't do the health lecture! We all know the dangers with the smoking, it's all around us. That really made me angry, and determined to smoke even more! So yea just try talking to her and finding out why she smokes... If she won't give up you'll have to take things away, if that doesn't work... Ground her until she realises it's hurting you and she will stop.

She is at the age where they know everything. I think I would get some information books on smoking and set down and try to educate her on the dangers of smoking. Explain to her that it also stinks and over time will rot her teeth. Maybe other kids do it now and so she thinks she is cool to do it too. Show her how uncool it can be. Also, very expensive. Add up and show her how much money people spend a year on cigarettes. I hope you can make an impression on her. She sounds a little bit rebellious, so, im thinking maybe some counseling might help.

This is a hard one. I brought up two daughters and both started smoking at 16 and I didn't even know it! Tell her about the dangers of smoking, when your talking to her tell her her breathe smells bad, her hair and clothes. If you can get others in the family or friends to do the same thing. Maybe you can shame her into quitting. Take her to a Museum of Science of something like that where she can see a healthy lung and one of a smoker. Good Luck to you....

The only way I see is not to blame her but consider her as an adult. This might be difficult, but I think it's the only way to have a real discussion. Actually, I really think you should argue on facts that matter to teenagers : it will cost you a lot of money, smoke makes you stink and so on. The health issue is not the first idea to use, as teenagers often feel invincible, or at least not concerned by health problems. Good luck!

i'm a smoker. one thing you have to understand is if she is addicted (which doesn't take too long, maybe a few months of smoking half a pack a day for me) she will become angry easily if she hasn't had enough nicotine for the day. contact truth.com. good site that helps you out a lot. try to catch her on a good day and confront her, she will more than likely become hostile at any moment easily. teenagers already are that way. just let her know that i hate smoking now, i regret it. can't get any dates, wake up hacking up half a lung every day, can't play sports very long, need cigarettes to stay calm.....basically it sux to be a smoker when you get older. let me know how it goes. but check truth.com. very good resource.

Why not force her to participate in the Cold Turkey reality shows and I'm sure it will definitely works for her but unfortunately, your daughter is thirteen and you must be eighteen, what a luck! So, why not make her watch the entire show on how the contestants feel about disadvantages of smoking? Entire season is great!

the easy is answer is you do not, masturbating at each age is healthy, and each man or woman from 0-one hundred does it, and in the adventure that they say they don't then they're mendacity. Your daughter isnt doing some thing incorrect, shes relieving her sexualy turn ons, by using masturbating. may you rather her relieve her urges by using going out and having sex? i'm prepared to wager that you masturbate to, so truly it makes you a good sized hypocrite for lecturing your daughter on a similar very component. the only time she must be "punished" for doing that is that if she does this out in public, yet different then that you won't be able to or shouldt punish her.

i started smoking when i was 13, there was nothing my mom could do. i thought it was cool, how wrong i was. now i've been smoking for 13 years and can't stop! i knew what it could do to me. my grandma and 3 of my great aunts all died from cancer too. you should really get realistic with her on the consequences of smoking, find some VERY graphic disgusting pictures of what smokers lungs look like, pictures of cancer eating away at lungs, thats the only way to really wake her up right now. good luck and i really hope she does not end up like me, if i have any regrets in my life it was when i started smoking at 13!
