Apparently they, along with other animals can be linked to triggering asthma attacks. The link below is saying its their urine that triggers the asthmatic conditions especially in young children. You should go read it as it tells you about the likelihood of other animals triggering the conditions as well.

Asthma is a spasm of the breathing tubes (alveolar)
Asthma sufferers very often have eczema and also anxiety problems
very often aggravated, by dust mites and in some people fur or feathers as well,
my son had asthma as a baby , but he grew out of it by the time he was 7 ,
we kept rabbits, which he loved to help us care for. , and he never had any problems after that age .
To sum up , rabbits or any other animal ,does not cause asthma but can aggravate it .( make the symptoms worse)

.

Discuss this with your doctor and he will refer you to a specialist .
The best way to find out if your son may be affected , by rabbit fur
,is to go and have a "patch test" done on various allergens .

An allergies unit ,specialises in pinpointing what is likely to trigger off your sons asthma

I do hope he will be well enough, to keep a rabbit , or even (less furry) a guinea-pig .

if you are allergic to animal hair then it can increase the risk of acquiring asthma..if you don't have any breathing problems than it causes no problems at all...
