it means they are Jews. They omit the letter "o" because they don't wanna spell something as Holy as God as if it were a trivial thing....i suppose it is for reverence....as when they spell God's name "YVHV"...as in the old times.

This is the thing that confuses me about religion. People get so uptight about how to spell God's name when they should be focusing on more important things... like, you know, being a good person. Don't you think God cares more about not sinning than whether or not you capitalize his name or spell it exactly the way he wants?

Like the flap over the Mohmad cartoons, you can't really concieve fully of God and must not insult him by trying, so the thinking goes. The two religions that do this I believe are Islam and Judaism.

Only Jews do that. It is out of respect for God to not write out his name on anything that could be destroyed. Though "God" isn't a name, but merely a description/title, it is still a form of respect for God. I'm told to write his name and then destroy what it is written on (this post could be deleted, so therefore destroyed) is blasphemy. Just as saying God's name out loud is blasphemy, according to their custom.

All religions had been created by savages. Pronouncing god(s) name(s) has been prohibited to avoid god(s) ruin, so honest savages used euphemisms or - in your case - tried to use "improper" name.

its a religious letter - its very inmortant and sacred
in the hebrew version of the bible
Yahweh is sacred - and the letter hey (ה) is very sacred as well
so you are not alowed to say it

I asked a Jewish person that once, and she told me that they arent allowed to say GOD, as its HIS name...
I told her that GOD is only like saying DAD, because its not HIS proper name, its what we call HIM...
We dont KNOW HIS name... So, we use GOD instead, as we would use Dad to address our Earthly Father...
