10 April 2006: The Swiss cities of Geneva and Zurich offer the best quality of life according to research published by Mercer Consulting in April 2006. Vancouver (Canada) is placed third, followed by Vienna (Austria), Auckland (New Zealand) and Düsseldorf (Germany). Baghdad, not surprisingly, is the lowest ranking city in the survey.

Sydney
Hands down my favorite city on the planet. The people are what make the place fabulous. Friendly, helpful, charming. The rich diversity of the city lends to great places to eat. And you really can't beat the beaches. Eat at a stand at the fish market, take the ferry to Manly, do the walk from Bronte to Bondi and sit on the steps of the Opera house and people watch.

Paris
Paris is best visited as a couple. Big groups (especially American's) gather too much negative attention. Unarguably the most romantic city in the world, nothing rivals the richness of the museums, the beauty of the lights at night and the top quality bistros and wine. Tres magnifique! Musee Rodin is treasure among treasures in a city that also offers the Musee d'Orsay and the Louvre. Visit Cafe Max and Runtz for dinner and climb the Arc d'Triumph at night.

Luxembourg City
Small but packed with beauty. The city is friendly, charming and rich with history. Pay tribute to General Patton at the American Cemetery and storm some castles.

Chicago
My kind of town. It is always a toss-up between Chicago and New York, but Chicago is the architectural capital of the United States which lend to a beautiful skyline on the waters of Lake Michigan. If you want to have a worldly experience, go to NYC... if you want a more middle America with edge experience, visit the windy city. Give yourself time to enjoy the Art Institute, get the best view from the John Hancock tower and take a ride on the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier... and catch a Deep Dish Pizza at Geno's East.

Munich
Experience the holidays in Munich and you feel like you've entered into a Christmas Carol. Charming, historical and great beer, what more does one want from a city. Have a beer (or two) at the hofbrauhaus.

Toronto
New York without all the New Yorkers (and I can say that, I am a New Yorker)... this is fast becoming the most cosmopolitan city in North America. Quaint and ethnic neighborhoods give visitors the opportunity to experience Greek culture by day and Italian at night. Top notch eats and the people are super friendly. Have lunch at the top of the Sky Tower and dinner in Greektown. Don't forget to catch a Jays game.

Amsterdam
Fine Chocolate, Great Beer and "legal" cannabis. Just what many bodies crave. Many go to the city for the party, and leave discovering the wonderful museums, charm of the canals and beauty of the people. The Van Gogh museum is amazing and the chocolate covered waffles to die for.

Stockholm
A modern city that has kept it's historical beauty. The changing of the guards and Vasa museum are must sees for any avid traveler.

San Francisco
The city on the bay offers so many different experiences that it hard to visit just once. Catch a Giants game, eat on a pier, grab a sundae at ghirardelliand head out to Sonoma for a day of wine tasting.

Chang Mai
If you only have 14 days to do Thailand, spend 2 in Bangkok, 4 on a remote island (avoid Phuket!) and the rest of your trip in the beautiful Chang Mai region. Ring the bells at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep for good luck, bargain at the flea market and dine on the Ping River.
