I'm a New York City native, so I'd find it hilarious. Wear whatever you feel/choose to wear and don't let the opinions of others stop you from doing what you want to do.

No I would not be offended. I don't even live in the US. Sounds funny, although there are sensitive people living there that might find it offensive.
