Until a few years ago, ALL hurricanes were given female names. Then after much flack the weather bureau began to rotate. Now every other named storm is given a female name and every other one is given a male name.
So, most hurricanes do not have female names only half of them do. They are named in alphabetical order.

Hurricanes are named in alphbetical order. The first hurricane would be named a name starting with "A" and the second one starting with "B" etc. If the first name beginning with "A" is masculine, than all the hurricanes of that years will be male names. Another year, female names will be used.
