How much would you give for a used '79 Triumph Spitfire? It is white and is in mid-condition.

'Cause my father wants one that his friend is selling and I think it is priced too high for a car in that condition...$4,000 is the price.

Mid as between great and junk.

A lot is going to depend on the actual condition of the vehicle. I rate vehicle's condition for a living, and my ratings are usually much different than the owner of the vehicle's.

That car could be worth as little as $50 (for scrap metal) or as much as $12,000 in show condition (restored to brand new with all original parts)

Without physically seeing the car myself, I could not guarantee a value, of course

It has a loan value (the amount the bank would consider to be the value if they were to finance the purchase) of $4000, so if the car is in good shape, the price being asked does not seem out of line.

Mid meaning 50% , i would think $3500 is reasonable.
If it is original, and regularly serviced, and cared for.
Remember you have to repair or restore the other 50%, and it could cost a lot, depending on what the 50% entails.Don't know how readily spares are available by you.
Seeing it is your Dad's friend, can you trust him ?
Trouble is too, when a man wants that car, he wants that car !

What condition is mid? Did you meant mint? - As in factory fresh, straight out of the mint. Or were you meaning mid - as in half way between factory fresh and the junk yard?

I think those cars are cute, but I would never give anything for one. They're way too small for my likeing and needs.

These car are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable, especially in wet weather. If he wants it for a daily driver, he'd better have a backup car on standby all the time.

The value? hard to say. Depends a lot on the buyer. (how bad he wants it)
