Aside from the obvious of the flight being full. Will it cost a lot a lot more? How much time do you need to check your bags etc?, on average. Any other ideas or comments on hasty departures will be appreciated.

If the flight is near sold out...you will pay an ASSLOAD, and certain carriers like AA, NW and US if you don't get at least a 3 day advance you will be paying an ASSLOAD. But then again it really depending on where you are going. If it's a short flight flying out of a major airport into a major airport like say.....Los Angeles to Seattle...you'd get some slack perhaps. But if you were from....Des Moines to Jacksonville...prepare to take a new mortgage out :) Checkin bags will be standard...allow at least 45 mins to an hour for domestic and 1 1/2 to 2hrs for international. You might get tagged for extra loving with TSA however.

I don't believe they are any more expensive than buying it a couple months ahead unless you're flying during the busy months (summer, christmas time, ect.) The only problem I see occuring is that it would be full. If they put you on stand-by, you could be stuck in the airport all day waiting for room on a plane. It can be pretty annoying sitting in uncomfortable seats in an airport all day.

You will be on stand-by. You will buy it at higher price. There are booking classes so if u do 2 months b4 tariff is different then ur booking after one month and the day of travel is always higher.

You want to travel anyway then y should u waste ur time waiiting for ur name to be announced.
