i am a keen ornithologist and i dont know if asking this question here is suitable, but i have noticed that kingfishers always flock to cemetaries sit on toomb stones and send out a sad cry. for years i have tried to fugure out why they do this and do you think birds too understand what death means?

I am not sure that kingfishers do....
but since you say you are an ornithologist and have noted this phenomenon over a period of years I dare say it is note worthy and may be for a variety of reasons.
Which cemetaries have you noticed this at?
Are the particular cemetaries you have been to near water?
Kingfishers do tend to congregate around water.
If the cemetaries are particularly old an unkempt it could be that there may be an abundance of bugs and small rodents...
It would be an interesting research.... please do come back and tell us what else you have noted.
