you do not have to believe in organized religion in order to believe in Christ.. Even Jesus was POed about what was going on in the Churches in his days, and I woudlnt say things have gotten much better.. There are so many people who say they are Christians but they do not live it in their hearts - but dont worry, those will be the ones left behind.

I, as a Christian, agree with you. Alot of Christians have lost focus and used what should be done as ministry for excessive personal gain. There are plenty of Christians who fall into sin in other ways, too. All of us do; everyone sins; but I imagine the media gets a kick out of emphasizing sin when it's done by a Christian or a so-called Christian. Many people who feel the way you do avoid church and other Christians because they have never made a relationship with real, genuine, authentic Christians. I hope you can find them. Check to see if there's an Evangelical Free Church in your area. Oh, and don't get discouraged. It is our job as true Christians to show the love of Christ to those who have a bad view of us.

If people start to read Bible with understanding, this world which is currently full with hate between Bible lovers (OT and NT) and Quran lovers.
I can quote 1000s from Bible to prove Islam is the final version Christianity but there is no use to many.
While there are many who have entered Islam thanks to Y!A, there are still many who are too ignorant to even look into other person's faith and see what exactly is it.
I am not even sure if anyone else here is even qualified to speak on the behalf of their religion yet we see them making the biggest claims this world has ever seen.

I am a christian also, I believe in the Bible completely I read in it everyday. I agree with you, I'm against the TV and Radio Avangalist. They have commercialized christanity. I am sorry to say I most likely would not be a christian if that was all I had to go on.

TV is the worst place for religion. For any religion. And people on here, well... it's real easy to be like that when you're not actually face to face with the person you're goin after. ^_^ So it's more like little kids trying to determine who is the "King of the Hill".
But I have to agree, that is exactly what causes those who are non's and especially those who are, what many call, "baby Christians", to turn away from all of it. And no one could really blame them. If they were to convert to another religion and saw THAT kind of contradiction? They would be doing Exactly what many of the non's here do. Bashing the hell out of it.

I'm not offended at all. The right to choose how you express your beliefs is up to you and you alone. I left christianity years ago because I never believed even though I was forced to go to church week after week by my mother. When we grow up and know ourselves better we settle in the the belief system and style of belief that is right for us.

interesting topic ... does a 'label' change the 'contents' ?
I find it difficult to separate out "truth" in 100 words, although I could make an argument for agreement/non-agreement within that constraint.
Holding up any 'religion' to the test of "what people of that religion actually DO" in today's world would make most God-based religions appear rather .... sleazy.
If one applied the test of "judge a tree by its fruit" a similar result would be seen, unless a person was very selective in picking out "the fruit" to use as judgement.
Could this be the result of placing the notion of "God" as higher in importance than the notion of "compassion"?
Why are almost all god-based religions founded on "truth" revealed thousands of years ago?
did 'God' quit speaking?

There have always been self-righteous individuals that have hidden behind God and Christ, working their own will in the name of God. This is, what I believe to be, the sin of taking God's name in vain. I have changed my beliefs recently because of the hypocrisy that I have noticed. I have abandoned organized religion of all kinds in favor of intuitive faith. Instead of calling yourselves Christians, which to me has also become tainted with intolerance and hypocrisy, maybe you could refer to yourselves as Jesites? Ninety-three words, including this sentence.

i completely agree with u. when i'm at church or in prayer etc, i feel great about my religion. but just like everything else, religion is becoming a source of advertisement and a way to make money. so i always feel that any religion in the media is more about monetary gain than an honest attempt of spreading faith.
