Just because you pay taxes doesn't mean you get free stuff.

An answer for the real Gringo (Gringo means foreigner)- Go to a hospital or a child's school. Drive on the street, have a police officer protect you. Receive emergency medical care, go to a soup kitchen. Those are some of the free things some get. Then again, if you pay taxes, it's not free. You're paying for it. What's your point?

Yes, some people do think illegals get everything for free, but only the ignorant ones. Kind of like only ignorant illegals believe Americans in America are Gringos.

Ignore the morons here.

All that free government stuff is a myth for many illegals. Not all, but a lot.

There is plenty of trailer-trash type citizens milking the system too.

I need help opposing some of the militant anti-illegal groups. The reality for these fools is not illegal immigration. They think Bush is going to merge the US into some North American Union, and illegals are part of the "plan." They are scary people.

It's just anonymous online board-postings and stuff. Mail me if you are interested.

Ignore Gargs: He is half right on some. He can get medical aid at any county hospital when he falls off a motocycle and runs up a $100k tab.

I laughed out loud when I read your first question, but then you had to keep going...

If you are having taxes taken out you are using someone's Social Security Number illegally. If it is your child's then your taxes are going to pay for his schooling. If it doesn't belong to anyone you know then you are screwing up their credit and eligibility for government benefits.

The taxes you pay go towards the roads you use, the police and fire protection you enjoy. Because of those taxes you enjoy clean water and air and safe food. Because of those taxes your rights are protected even though you aren't a citizen.

You say you don't qualify for government help. This is incorrect. You may qualify for housing assistance and emergency medical assistance. As a matter of fact, because of the DRA of 2005 it is harder for me as a citizen to get medical assistance than it is for you. If I am in an accident and can't prove I am a citizen, then I am can't get medical assistance. But if I were to say I wasn't a citizen, I wouldn't even have to prove my income. You can qualify for government commodities aka food boxes. You also get free legal help.

So how does it feel to be knocked off your high horse?

Unfortunately, you have hit on a big misconception that persons who live in USA have about workers who are not citizens. They DO NOT qualify for medical assistance (except for emergencies, and then are shuttled out the door), they DO NOT qualify for housing or food stamps, or Social Security, or any type of assistance without some form of citizenship. They do, however, have to pay taxes if working in the US. So if you find this free fountain, beware.

Stop complaining and Get an ITIN.

An ITIN, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, is a tax processing number only available for certain nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses, and dependents who cannot get a Social Security Number (SSN). It is a 9-digit number, beginning with the number "9", formatted like an SSN (NNN-NN-NNNN).

To obtain an ITIN, you must complete IRS Form W-7, IRS Application for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (PDF) . The Form W-7 requires documentation substantiating foreign/alien status and true identity for each individual. You may either mail the documentation, along with the Form W-7, to the Philadelphia Service Center, present it at IRS walk-in offices, or process your application through an Acceptance Agent authorized by the IRS. Form W-7(SP), Solicitud de Número de Identificación Personal del Contribuyente del Servicio de Impuestos Internos (PDF) is available for use by Spanish speakers.

Acceptance Agents are entities (colleges, financial institutions, accounting firms, etc.) who are authorized by the IRS to assist applicants in obtaining ITINs. They review the applicant's documentation and forward the completed Form W-7 to IRS for processing.

NOTE: You cannot claim the earned income credit using an ITIN.

Foreign persons who are individuals should apply for a social security number (SSN, if permitted) on Form SS-5 with the Social Security Administration, or should apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on Form W-7. Effective immediately, each ITIN applicant must now:

Apply using the revised Form W-7, Application for IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number; and
Attach a federal income tax return to the Form W-7.
Applicants who meet an exception to the requirement to file a tax return (see the instructions for Form W-7) must provide documentation to support the exception.

New W-7/ITIN rules were issued on December 17, 2003. For a summary of those rules, please see the new Form W-7 and its instructions.

You're not entitled to your tax money back. If you filed income tax returns, you might be eligible.

Why don't you do things the right way and pay your share like every other hard-working American in the country?

Good for you.
I agree, and know that you don't get free goodies. I know for sure,,,
I am from Canada, and came here in 1955-- i went to school graduated high school worked most of my life etc,

MY Grandparents had a green card for me, and registered me for a few years and then stopped, and i am white, and no one ever ever ever, ask me for any green card, so i gre up without one, no big deal,

I got social security card at sixteen, worked all my life, memorized my number
lost my card about twenty five years ago, still no problem, until around the mid 1980's my employer ask me for a copy of green card to put in my file, and copy of social security card,,(copy) I TOLD them i lost it and had the number in my head, etc, and they said they still by law need to zerox off a copy of these documents,or they could be fined,,,

Well, after goiing to immigration attorneys, filling out papers etc, paying big bucks, gettting photos, and sent off for green card, it never came, never,
well no one pushed me on this,, i let it go, i admit i did not take it serious, and then about six years later when applying for job, the same requirements have come up.. so i went to immigration, stood there two days, and paid the fee, etc, only to get a receipt ,, and notice that card will be on its way in a few months, (this is long, but i have a point) THEN I WENT TO SOCIAL SECURITY to apply for a duplicate I DID SAY DUPLICATE of my card, and they would lnot give me one without the green card, and the ins would not give me greeen card without social security card,,
so i temp got an ilegal one, it was my name and number,i did not lie, it was just made from the people who make them,, etc, and i went one time to get financial relief GR, when i was stuck and they would not give me anything without my legal verification, so there are no freebees like people think,
i am a legal resident not illegal, however my family is all deceased and they cant find any records of me,, i paid into social security all my life, and now i am in a mess, but i am getting birth records, and i will eventually get it straightend out, at this timie though it is not easy convincing people to just give me a duplicate, not a new card,, and so for the person addressing us aGringos, i understand, and if the government will pay me all the money i have invested, that is for me, i will be happy to go on my way,,as i paid into social security over a thousand dollars a month for years,,

well, i got that off my chest, and i feel better, good luck to you sir or madam i do agree with you,,
some people only repeat what they hear in the news, and have no clue,,what is really going on in our government,

Um, they can't take money out of your paycheck without a social security number. I take it you lied about that item didn't you?

If you had one, you would not be an illegal immigrant. Cry me a river.

Have you ever considered filling out the paperwork to be here legally? You might want to consider it. If you have been here 15 years, you obviously want to stay.
