I have baked these for years:

4 squares of (melted) dark unsweetened or baking chocolate
2 sticks or 1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 3/4 cup of flour
2 cups of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla
4 eggs (better if you separate the yolks from the whites, and whip the egg whites until they are stiff, and salt the yolks, but not absolutely necessary if you are in a hurry)

Melt the butter, stir in the sugar, add the salted egg yolks, add the chocolate, add the flour, fold in the stiff egg whites followed by the vanilla and 1/2 of pecans or walnuts if you desire.

Bake in 350 oven for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. If you want that shiny topping on the brownies, brush it with milk. (Depends on your pan, glass or tin, should fit into an 8 x 8 for thick, use a cake or 13 x 9 if you want thinner and bake it less time).

If you want really really rich brownies, stir in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips too.

Everytime I make these brownies I get people begging me for the recipe..very simple.

3 eggs
pck of Duncan Hines MILK CHOCOLATE CHUNK (or 1/2 cup of milk chocolate morsels)
tube of Duncan Hines Fudge Icing
3 tablespoons of water
1/2 tablespoon of oil
nutts (optional)

Prepare the brownies according to the package. If using the family style package please use a longer pan.if not you'll need a 8 x 8 pan. Once the brownies have cooled frost them and pour nutts on top. VERY SIMPLE AND OH SO GOOD. Another trick..I allow my desserts to sit out an hour before serving so that they can come to room temperature...espically if they have been in the fridge overnight...it tastes so much better. ENJOY!!!

it sounds cheap or fake, but you can buy one of those $1-$2 brownie mix boxes at the grocery store. they taste fabulous and would probably be better(and certainly cheaper) than making them from scratch. plus, they have directions right on the box! if you want to add your own touch, you can try folding something into the batter like dried fruit, chocolate(or butterscotch, mint, etc.) chips, nuts, or anything else you think may taste good in your brownies.

The Duncan Hines brownies are excellent! I like to make mine in a smaller pan that what they call for and shorten the baking time (I adore them not quite but almost gooey in the center).Plus it's really easy and hardly any cleanup.

I used to make them from scratch. Then I discovered Hershey's brownie mix with chocolate chips and chunks in them and never looked back. Costco carries the mix.
