This ques has always bothered me, because i cant find an explanation, maybe because they wanted to generalize the production, but i just want to confirm if there exists a mathematical answer for it.

There are 6 faces of a dice. So there are 3 pairs (1,6) , (2,5) and (3,4). They are there fore placed in this pattern.

If there were 8 faces then there would have been 4 pairs (1,8), (2,7), (3,6) and (4,5). The addition of every pair comes out 9 this time. This is the beauty of mathematics.
