If I took the following scripture and believed myself to be a millionaire (just as an example), would I be taking this verse out of context?

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

If every word is true how could it be out of context

Yes, you are taking it out of context, the meaning of this is to say that if you pray for something and our Lord sees that you heart is right about what you are praying for He will give you what you are praying about. This is not to say that our Lord would not give you a million dollars depending on what the use of the money might be, if it were to serve the kingdom in some way you might get an answer to your prayer.

Yes, it's out of context and more importantly not understood.
The key thing you said was..believed yourself to be...

Fact is, the whole chapter is indeed about belief....but not in anyone or anything...but God. The message is...If you believe in God, all things are possible based on that true belief. Not simply because you prayed but because you had faith that nothing is impossible for God and trust that God can and will provide.

ask and ye shall recieve too...huh? Yeah, well, it is wonderful to want to be financially well off, God wants you to be prosperous. He also wants you to be content with the trials and tribulations that he puts you through and give Him praise in no matter what we do or what happens to us.Pray for war and disaster to stop not only in the Middle East but everywhere else. Congo, Indonesia, India, China, Peru, the villages of the Amazon. Spiritual guidence and strength through Him, and asking for His will to be done. When we do what we want and not what God wants things go sour, when we do what God wants it maybe a bit more difficult at times, but it turns out better in the end.

Some people tend to take that scripture to mean whatever they want it to mean. But the real thing that must be remembered is that all things must be done in God's will in order for that to be true. Remember that you cannot read portions of the bible and run with it. You have to study the original meaning of the passage and the words of that time.

Yes, this is not meant for worldly gain, and so it won't work, because your motives are wrong. This is to be used for God's purposes. If you have His mind, you'll have pure and good motives and this verse will work (and you'll ask for the right things, not to be a millionaire).

give it a whirl, that wouldnt be out of context of what the verse has to say, however its very unlikely that it will happen.
