i don't remember exactly but a 'jiffy' is actually suppose to be a real unit of measure. i think it's something like a 1/100 of a second, but i'm not sure.

Believe it or not, a jiffy is precisely .01 seconds. It's often used loosely by physicists and computer geeks to mean other things, however, but you can use it safely to mean a very short time.
