I guess they're mainly for designated drivers. Sometimes people can drink 1 or 2 beers & still be legally sober enough to drive, depending on their size. Although I'm sure that most of them know there will be a lot of people that will be drinking & driving & to be honest, I don't think a lot of bar owners care how they get there, as long as they get there w/their money. That's awful to say, but sadly, I believe it's true.

Parking lots are provided near bar for you to park the car there. If you have consumed more alcohol than the legal limits you may go home by a cab and collect your car next day from this parking lot!!

Well, not everyone who drinks at a bar ends-up getting drunk.
The only reason why I go to bars is that there might be a band playing or to play billiards, I personally, don't drink.
Whether if one drinks or not, patrons who go into the bar still need someplace to park.

Because you can drink a drink without being drunk.

And i don't know what bars you've been to, but the ones in Bloomington and the ones in Chicago don't have parking lots, bar and grills do. And you can drive and not drink anything there.

so you have a way to get home when you don't live close to the bar. if you are driving a car and you intend to get drunk then you should have a designated driver who will drive you home.

It's for the cops to have a place to park so they can nab you as your leaving from a lovely night of karaoke.
